I am so GLAD my name was removed many years ago. I do not have to go through all this. I do not have SDA members visiting me at unexpected times or find SDA literature in my mail box. Thank you God. You are awesome. Diana |

Gilbert, might check with the pastor of your Baptist church now. I was raised in the Southern Baptist denomination. I remember a church business meeting once where they discussed someone's (a baby Christian) request to have their membership transferred from another "church". Can't for the life of me remember now specifically what it was, but it was not a biblically based group, hm, may actually have been Christian Scientist. The conclusion that was reached was that they could not agree to have the membership transferred from a group that was so clearly off base. But they would have no problem with accepting the person into the church as a member simply on the statement of their present faith in God. |

It is really odd how nobody has come around, trying to "reclaim" me or my wife! I think they know that we know, and they just do not have an answer. Judging by the SDA church board correspondence we gotten in the mail, they could hardly wait to drop names from membership! Isn't that an odd picture? In their letters, they admit to the term "doctrinal differences", which I hear is unusual for them to admit. But they will not engage in doctrinal or egw talk with us. I had to put in some 20 phone calls and messages in order for the young pastor to even get back to me last winter. He is gone now, and as far as I know they have no replacement, and it has been months. I can hardly wait to talk to the next pastor! But when you think about it, it is really no different than egw condemning the whole Christian world of her time, save her little band. What a farce we are glad to be rid of, in a way. |

Lydell, I suspect after all the material that I have given the pastors of the church I attend pointing out the cultish nature of Adventism, that they would not view it as Christian either. This past week I gave two of the three pastors a printed copy Pacific Union Conference President Tom Moster's tirade in August's Pacific Union Recorder, at http://www.pacificunionrecorder.com/107/8/32861.html. I highlighted quote:Prophecy Where once it seemed important to have a modern day prophet to warn and instruct us as we prepare for the second coming of Jesus, it is now inconvenient to accept Ellen White's pointed counsel about personal changes. My, the list is endless! So we look for reasons not to read her: some say she might have simply copied large portions of the material in her books; the church was so legalistic in the past, she probably just flowed with the times. Now our emphasis is on salvation through Jesus, full and complete. Total serious consideration of the prophetic messages from Ellen White = ZERO.
It is unusual to see them without something to say. In this case they were speechless. They read, and reread it, and said, "So the Seventh-day Adventists still put Ellen White before Jesus?" To them, the though was incomprehensible. In any event, they don't pressure anyone to become a member (currently around 1300+), and they repeatedly state that being a Baptist, or even a member of the local church won't save anyone. It is only one's relationship with Jesus. Gilbert Jorgensen |

How different this is than what the Adventists believe. |

I only wish that was the emphasis of Moster's conference/churches. I don't really believe that is an accurate statement for most of Adventism. Alan |

Gilbert, I caught that sarcasm, too--and it makes me cringe. He doesn't have any idea what he is really saying, does he? (Or does he...?) Whatever the case, it's no wonder that Adventists tend to be unmoved by the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice--or that so many of them do not see His death as substitutionary but merely as an example. I know, I just wish it were not so. I would like to see all my friends who remain under a "grace plus something else" see the real sacrifice of Jesus for what it was and is. I see what Colleen sees in that His death does not move their spirit. Gilbert, I appreciate the work you are doing to bring information to light on this forum. Thank you. Alan |

My wife didn't catch the sarcasm the first time either. Tom Moster is flogging the adventists (rhymes with "a dentist") for not reading enough egw. Thanks to Dale for turning me on to the "dentist" thing! I am really enjoying the new inflection! |

Make sure that they remove your name from your local conference too. When I "resigned" I had to threaten to sue the conference in order to get my name removed, I have a Jewish cousin who is a lawyer and he was chomping at the bit to sue the SDA religion. I worked at the GC for several years and alls they want is numbers on the books, they may claim they took your name off but insist that they do so. |
