The latest issue of Proclamation is now online, and the print copy has been dropped at the Post Office.

The link to the new issue is: http://www.lifeassuranceministries.org/proclamation/2013/index.html

The three feature articles are powerful. Check out Dale Ratzlaff's article on the necessity of the investigative judgment in order for Adventism to exist. Also, Terry Mirra has written an insightful article outlining why we have to be willing to process fully our Adventism in order not to continue to be "stuck". Finally, Martin Carey has written a careful and detailed article on the roots of contemplative prayer.

Beyond the Adventist pew;Nessary divorce. The very best, and has the potential to be most helpful, article to date.

What is in this article has been pressing on my heart for a very long time.
It is recommended reading for all those leaving Adventism.

Link worked the second time. Wonderful articles. Wish they had been there when I left many years ago.

Thanks, Delina! Sorry--Richard fixed a couple of problems after I posted the first link, and I failed to update the link.

Isn't Dale's article amazing? I love that he has the audio transcript of that meeting in Washington with Angel Rodriguez emphasizing that the Adventist organization has no reason to exist without the investigative judgment...and that the "powers that be" recognize that doctrine can't be proven and that pastors are to teach it on the basis of tradition.

They have actually admitted their stance and their knowledge of its unbiblical foundation.

Dale's article is one of the most impressive and concise presentations of the IJ I've ever read. LOVED it. Bravo!!! Thank you, Dale, for having the courage to write about the true spirit behind this destructive doctrine.

What Dr. Rodriguez said (SDA theologian quoted in Dale's article), makes me mad. How can he sit there and say regarding the SDA interpretation of Daniel 8:14: "Why do we use this method of interpretation that is passé, gone? We use it because we believe it is the one that the biblical text provides for us. In other words, this is based in the Protestant principle of sola scriptura."

He says it so innocently, like it's obvious that it's referring to the investigative judgment, when it doesn't! The leadership knows that the average Adventist in the pew doesn't think they would lead their flock wrong. I used to think that way too as an Adventist.

Look at this very good answer given in the letters to the editor portion of the Sept. 2012 Levitt Letter. (Scroll down about two thirds of the way.)

http://www.levitt.com/newsletters/2012-09.pdf

I didn't want to just copy and paste it because I don't know if there's a copywrite, but basically someone wrote in asking about a doctrine that a "Christian group" teaches, saying that Daniel 8:14 referred to the "investigative judgment."

The editor answers, saying what group teaches this (you guessed it!) and then explains WHY the doctrine is wrong. First he points out that Daniel 8:14 isn't talking about Jesus doing what that "Christian group" claims, because Jesus died "once, for all" - Romans 6:10. There is no further need of deliberation on the matter because all who receive Jesus' atoning death receive a full pardon from God.
Second, he explains that the 2300 days are days not years and that the time period refers exactly to the historical period when Antiochus persecuted the Jews from September 6, 171 BC until December 25, 165 BC. After that evil tyrant died, Jews celebrated the cleansing of the temple with the feast of Hannukah. (That was the Maccabean revolt.)

Actually the New Testament refers to Jesus celebrating Hannukah, called the "Feast of Dedication" or "Feast of Lights." (John 10:22-23)

I have eagerly read every issue of Proclamation and find the articles to be well written and researched. The latest issue is no exception and the exposition of the pillar of Adventism is especially powerfully presented. I asked God to guide me in my search for the truth in the scriptures and I was led here.

BTW, I am not a former Adventist, I am a former Atheist but then I was an "almost" Adventist. I accepted Jesus into my life through an Adventist friend but I wanted to make up my own mind about how exactly I would worship and honor Him. Your magazine and this forum made so many of the things that didn't quite add up about Adventism become clear. Also, because Former Adventists need to carefully explain the real scripture to counter the false teachings of SDA I have learned so much about how and why I am saved by Jesus.

Thank you and praise the Lord

Cazperth welcome to the forum.

I like your approach. Test everything against what Scripture really teaches.
