Who mentioned this GREAT resource - Lying For God, by Kerry Wynne?
I want to thank you!

Those of you who haven't seen it - it's long, but well worth the time.
Just print it out a chapter at a time and go to bed with it.

Try this link:

http://www.truthorfables.com/LYING%20FOR%20GOD%20doc.pdf

I don't know how to make it into words instead of the web address, but it should work.

Adrian - I'm half way through chapter 2 and I agree it's very useful. So far this is a collection of scholarly stuff pulled together in an objective fashion. It's stuff I could never get my hands on, let alone compile, by myself. Another poster, I'm not sure who, mentioned it. I goggled and wam! There it was.

Yup! Great Stuff.
Thanks To Whoever Brought It Up.

Love The Name, Lying For God, So Apt.

I don't want to spoil the end of the story :D But since I found out that I had already read big parts of the books in other texts, I jumped to the end.

There is a rather big section dealing with the financial scandals that happened in the church since the 70's... Where could I get more information about all that?

I read most of the book about the Davenport scandal by Rea ("Pirates of privilege") and I have to say that I ended up having this revolting feeling about the corruption at the highest levels of the church in those years.

But then I remembered about Folkenberg, having to renounce from his position as President of the General Conference in the late 90's... And I started thinking... Back then they mentioned, in my church, that he left voluntarily to prevent the SDA church being affected by his finantial relationship with some other person who did some "bad businesses".

I started thinking... How much of that was true? And, interestingly, in this book there was a reference to that. It appears that it went much deeper than I knew. And I had no idea at all about the ADRA financial scandals.

It went deep, Martin. I think you can still access at least some of the coverage of the story of Folkenberg on the Adventist Today website, AToday.com. That story was my final job for Adventist Today.

He may have left "voluntarily" but he left under pressure because news of his dealings was beginning to become known. He had been in partnership with a man who raised funds for the Vatican's charitable organization, Vicariatus Urbis, for over two decades at the time. They had been both splitting profits personally and between the SDA and the Catholic church for years--and the officers of the General Conference knew about it.

The underside of the Adventist Big Business is not pretty...and it would shock the earnest/deceived members.

I just scanned through that book. WOW!!!! No wonder the SDAs covered it up. Many people would have left lots earlier if they would have known. I never heard anything as an SDA.

A lot is stuff I've seen bits and pieces of before. However, here it's pulled together with references in a format that is organized and accessible.

Very Nice!
