Another facebook post from an adventist friend of mine. There is no "comment" button on this one so I am not able to respond. There is a link to the "sermon" but I'm sure it is more of the same.

At FAF, the statement was made that Biblical truth has been distorted in every one of the doctrines of the adventist church.

Read this and you will begin to see how true that is:

"Those that overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil, will be the favored ones who shall receive the seal of the living God. .......Those who are planning sin and acting it will be passed by. Only those who, in their attitude before God... are repenting... and confessing their sins in the great anti-typical day of atonement, will be recognized and marked as worthy of God's protection." TM 445

And then his next post is: "Romans 5:8 But God commendeth HIS LOVE TOWARD US, in that, WHILE WE were YET SINNERS, Christ DIED FOR US. 9 Much More then, BEING NOW JUSTIFIED by HIS BLOOD, WE SHALL BE SAVED from wrath THROUGH HIM.10 For if, WHEN WE were ENEMIES, we were RECONCILED TO GOD BY THE DEATH OF HIS SON, Much More, Being RECONCILED, We Shall Be SAVED BY HIS LIFE."

Do they really not see the contradiction here?

In a word, no.

During my study out I actually sat through a SDA sermon which used Galatians to prove that the 10C are a description of God's character and therefore we are under them. Galatians! My wife and I were the only ones present who could see the glaringly obvious contradictions... everyone else was talking about how great of a sermon it was.

**Do they really not see the contradiction here?**

I agree with Michael, in a word "no", they can't see the contradiction in what they believe and what Scripture says. But...this is what happens when you read the Bible to prove you're right instead of for revelation of what the Bible is saying. This is the danger I see when you do "word searches" and this "proof text" thing.

I once pointed out to an SDA that Isaiah 66:23 and the context of the verse itself is pointing to "everyday" not the just Sabbath.

And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

The SDA replied, but it still says Sabbath in the verse. Give me a break, if you aren't going to even attempt to interpret it, then why bother discussing the issue?

Yes I agree. It is hard to share and describe the glorious things that Christ has done for us to people who cannot discern the Spiritual things. I was thinking about that as I was reading Galatians coming home from fAF. It may sound harsh but here is what the Bible says.

I was reading Galatians, and Paul is asking the Galatians in Galatians 3--

2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?

and again in 3:5 Paul repeats his rhetorical question--

5 So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?

And how are we sealed, by the Jewish Sabbath or the HOLY SPIRIT? The familiar verses are

21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. 2 Cor. 1:21-22

13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Eph. 1:13-14

30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Eph. 4:30

It saddens me to now know that as sincere as they are they are still deluded; they clearly CAN NOT have the truth because--

12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” John 16:12-15

This business that the Adventists are preaching and we once did too is all falsehood. Why?

The Holy Spirit is the guide into ALL Truth. We are sealed by the Holy Spirit not by relying on your ability to keeping the Jewish Sabbath (i.e., the law). And as Paul rhetorically pointed out, if you are trusting in the Law to save you DO NOT receive the Holy Spirit. Friends, Adventists do not have the Holy Spirit thus they do not have The Truth, of that the Bible is abundantly clear.

The frightening thing is, if it is NOT God that is revealing those things to Adventists, then whose pneuma is it? Is it any wonder why it is so hard to break it, and that it is ONLY the Holy Spirit can free them. Keep praying for them and ourselves as we epagonizomai (earnestly contend) for the Faith.

Surfy; Wow! The difference I felt as I read those two statements was amazing. In reading Ellen White's (I assume that was Ellen White - I'm not familiar with that abbreviation), anyway in reading Ellen White's words, I felt an old Adventist heaviness of having to make sure that I was careful to do all those thing.

Then when I read the Bible passage, I had a sense of lightness and relief that Jesus would do it all!!!! :-)

On reading the egw comment I just get confused. Then I read the Bible and everything is so clear. I will take the Bible.
