I would appreciate some prayers for our marriage. Since giving up adventism it has created enormous strain on our marriage and things at the moment are very difficult.

It is hard to know whats best. Our marriage was already strained and now this could be the straw that breaks the camels back. My wife is just so hard-line sda that she sees my departure from adventist as just cause for marriage breakup.

So I ask you to pray for wisdom for me to make the right choice. There are children involved too.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
You will be remembered in my prayers.
A prayer for you: Father in Heaven, You are the I AM and I thank you for that. Because of Jesus I can come running into your presence like a small kid. I am doing that today because our brother here is in need or your help. You know he wants to follow you and your know what his wife thinks. Give him what ever love, patience, care he needs to love you first and represent you to his wife and kids. Hold him and his family in the palm of your hands. Send the Holy Spirit to work in and through him and his wife.
God, I cry for them, because I know what stress in a marriage, where two do not believe the same, can be like. Hold them all close to You. You promise you will be with us "until the end of the ages." Thank you God for being the Awesome God you are.

Dear Mike, I will also pray for your marriage, for God to give you great wisdom and for your wife to be open to the love of Jesus.

I'll pray also that you will know how to love her and your children for Him.

Mike,

I will also be praying for you.

I wonder if it is possible to just share in neutral evening Bible study with your wife studying material of a non-threatening nature? Perhaps let her pick the book to study from the Bible ...

If the two of you are studying together that can work wonders for providing a common ground for future dialog. That has really helped in our transition. I intentionally avoid controversial subjects during evening Bible study together, and just enjoy God's Word. It is also something that you can involve your children in by taking turns reading and praying. It has worked for our family.

Mike ,
I agree with Gilbert.

Your wife needs to know you have not become an alien of some sort. She needs to be shown you care and that you are not a threat to her spiritual welfare. In fact, if possible, lead the way in positive, uplifting common ground. Let your fruits be self evident by your demeanor and acts. Don't get caught up arguing doctrines or religons. Try not to be anxious. She needs emotional reassurance that will come from observation. I have been dealing with some of this myself recently. Show your uncompromised love to her and your kids. Show mutual respect.
Ask God to speak for you. Just be there and keep doing the right things. Invest.

Hi Folks,
I am on the road to making amends with a sister who can be very nasty. We are supposed to see a counselor together sometime in the future. Please pray that God keep me cool, calm and God like in all I say and do. Then pray for this sister, that she come to know God and know that only He can diffuse all her hurts and anger. For those of you in and near Riverside, CA, that is where she lives.
Thanks much in advance.

Thanks for your prayers everyone - amazingly everything has calmed down after our 'blow out' the other night. I take on board all your comments and will try to maintain a loving atmosphere and avoid controversial doctrines.

On another note, please pray for our son who was recently diagnosed with Autism. Although we are going through various therapies it is a long road ahead.

Mike.

Dear Mike, this is enough, all on its own, to cause tension in your marriage. I had an autistic student who was an absolute sweetheart in many ways, but his father (my colleague) couldn't quite accept the full reality of his son's condition and struggled with shame.

I will pray for you all. God can redeem even this. I also had another colleague whose younger son was autistic, and that family actually united around the reality of that child, and I can still see the love and trust that God has granted them all when I see them at church.

Our Father is faithful, Mike.

crazy prayer requests with all the things going on in our lives but here goes,

i am having a very hard time breastfeeding our new son. it brings me to tears because it has been so difficult. not sure why this bothers me so much, but it does. pray that i will be given patience and endurance (my husband too) and that the baby will learn what to do. i know there are other alternatives which is great, but i really want this to work.

thanks, nicole

Hang in there Nicole. Praying!!

It does take time for a new baby and new mother to get the knack of breastfeeding. Do you have anybody nearby who can give you encouragement and support? Sometimes it helps to have someone who has done it. I've heard La Leche League can give lots of help, though I've never tried them. I breastfed my three children and would be glad to chat privately about stuff that helped me (or didn't) if you like. My email address is ladylittle@yahoo.com

Blessings,

Mary
