I will try to remember to put their names in the slot in the wall of my church, where prayer requests are put. I will continue to pray for them.
Thank you awesome God for these souls.

A roomate I had back in '73/74 at Monterey Bay Academy just called. (She got my number from my other roomate [there were three in the room], and I haven't heard from her in all these years.) She didn't have time to talk long. I want to call her back later - probably tonight - so I can talk about the Bible with her. (She still goes to the SDA church.) Pray that she is receptive and that I have the right words to say. Thanks!

Thanks for asking Believer247--I meant to give an update, and then it slipped my mind!

With my SDA friends, it was both of their first times attending a Sunday church. Neither of them were very "engaged" throughout the service. At the end, they politely said they liked the service but said they realized how much they associate Saturday with church and going to church on Saturday "just feels right". They kept saying that they were surprised that they were both in agreement about it since they are very liberal Adventists.

For me, it was evidence as to how much Adventism (whether strict or not) permeates one's thinking.

My Buddhist friend on the other hand was VERY engaged in the service. She listened with great attention to the sermon when our pastor gave an account of the resurrection story. She left without saying much, though, so I wasn't sure what was going on in her head about it all.

Just this last Friday, I saw her and she came up to me and told me that since she came to church with me, she has had an overwhelming sense of peace. She had really been struggling with some things, and she said going to church gave her new perspective regarding forgiveness and things (due to the Chinese language barrier, I wasn't sure exactly what the context of "forgiveness" was). She also said she couldn't get over how happy everyone was. She said the "joy" was really obvious. We couldn't talk long on Friday, but I invited her to church on Sunday. She said she would try and come. But something happened on Saturday night where she ended up staying up really late, and couldn't make it to church this past Sunday afterall.

My SDA friends are doing the "Truth Project" with some Christian friends, so I'm hoping that will begin to chip away at their veil.

My Buddhist friend, Jessica--I believe God has a definite call on her life. The incredible incidences of her life just seems to be "supernaturally" written, and I know that God has a special plan for her. She is open, and the Holy Spirit is working in her life.

So continued prayer would be greatly appreciated! I'll continue to keep you guys posted. Thank you for praying!

Snowboardingmom; I'm praying for them too. That's really encouraging about the Buddhist lady! :-)

I finally heard back from that former roomate from MBA. She was REALLY relunctant to talk about the Bible, saying she was happy as an Adventist. I felt that there was only a short time to get in a few words and I was praying about it.

I thought I'd get straight to the heart of the matter - the new covanant that Jesus brought in and the fact that the old one is obsolete. I read her some in Hebrews 9:15,16 "And for this reason He [Jesus] is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death..." "For where there is a testament, there must also be the death of the testator." And I read in Hebrews 8:13 "In that He says, 'A new covenant,' He has made the first obsolete..."

She said, "I don't believe all that."
Surprised, I responded, "I wasn't saying MY words. I was reading the Bible."
Then she said something about the Bible being taken out of context which again surprised me. The SDA church has a whole string of texts called "proof texts" that they take out of context to support their religion. I didn't say anything about that to her though. I just read 2nd Corinthians 3:7,8 where it compares the "ministry of death, written and engraved on stones" to the "ministry of the Spirit."

Pray that I can get ahold of her again and that I can mention Deut. 5:2,3 where Moses is telling Israel "The Lord did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are hear today..." (Deut. 5 goes on to repeat the 10 Commandments) and Deut. 4:13 where it identifies that covanant AS the 10 Commandments.
Also, I'd like to point out where Galatians 3:17,19 says that the law didn't come until 430 years AFTER Abraham and was to last until Christ.

Jeremy, you've posted in the past, SEVERAL verses that identify the old covanant [testament] as the 10 commandments. Could you put them down again?

Thank-you Diana :-)
I talked to the other old MBA roomate tonight. She lives down in Redlands, CA. I was able to talk more with her. (Months ago, I sent her my conversion story and I also sent Dale and Carolyn Ratzlaff's books with their conversion stories. She remembers the Ratzlaffs from MBA.) She was a lot more willing to listen then the old roomate I mentioned above, but she is still an SDA. She did write down some verses though. We plan to talk some more tomorrow evening. Please pray for her also.

Praying for you and your former roomies :-)

Speaking of former MBA roomates....
A while back I was talking with my (SDA) MIL who told me that my SIL had gotten in contact with a couple of her old friends from MBA and "was so happy to find that they are still members of "the" church." ... I found that kinda strange because I know my SIL will not go to a SDA church because she says she will not worship with people who believe her daughter (suicide victim) is going to hell....
anyway, when I spoke to SIL last week I mentioned the conversation to her and she said that she had indeed talked to a couple of her old MBA friends,, and both said they would like to keep in contact with her but neither have called her back. (she kinda laughed about it).

MIL also told me last week that my SIL (same one) went to a new dentist who is a "former" SDA (and also gay) who was going to charge thousands of dollars for dental work.... so she went to a different dentist and he just happens to be a CURRENT SDA and he is going to charge her about 1/2 as much as the first dentist (the gay former) LOL... I guess ya just gotta go to SDA dentists cause if you go to a Former SDA they are gonna charge you twice as much, and will most likely be gay to boot. (better watch those formers).... made me LOL but sad at the same time.... (sigh)
