Therefore why do good works and why try to live a godly life? This is the fruit of the gospel. First of all, it is the only way to have peace in this life with ourselves and with others. But also when we accept Jesus as our Saviour, as we hear the gospel of complete salvation imputed to us, we are reborn by the gift of the Holy Spriit and become children of God. Our works are accepted of God as an offering of praise and thanksgiving for the wonderful gift of Jesus given to each of us. Did you ever give a gift and were never thanked for it? These works are sinful, but God accepts us because we have accepted Jesus. Our sin is not imputed to us.

But our works have nothing to do with our righeousness in Jesus in heaven. That righteousoness is complete perfect, unblemished and can never be added to. Jesus said "It is finished" Our salvation is complete in Him.

Truly I believe this is hard to understand and easy to lose. It is easy to fall back into believing that we must be perfect in this life, and accepted of God because of the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. . But the only perfection we will ever have is in Jesus.

Bamboozled, I've been thinking about my response to your earlier post. I hope I didn't come across as to harsh. Sorry if I'v been offensive in any way.

I just get really ticked off, when I sense that someone's misrepresenting the gospel. Since leaving the sda's I have a strong tendancy to test everything,(in light of scripture)and speak out when things contradict God's holy word. The assurance of salvation I have in Christ, is of utmost importance to me. I will say it until I die, "But because of his great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in transgressions- it is by GRACE you have been saved" Eph.2:4,5. Notice it's, "BEEN SAVED" not, will be if you do...
Also, check out Romans 4:13-16, 7:4-6, pretty much the whole book of Romans and Galations are awesome.

Anyway, I just wanted to apologize for coming on a bit strong and to let you know I'm praying for us all. In Christ, Susan

Nothing can be done against Truth. It is not that every knee WILL bow. It is that every knee already DOES bow. Everything has been made subject to Truth and Reality since the Cross. This is the EVERLASTING Covenant. It CANNOT be broken. It assimilates everything. Nothing can be done against Truth. Even deception serves Truth. If you don't know this, you haven't really touched the power of Truth! That is why there is no sting in death and no fear because perfect love casts out ALL fear. That is how there can be vessels of honor and vessels of dishonor -- yet all are VESSELS. All serve the supremacy of the Most High whether they recognize it or not. Resistance is not "futile" -- it is pure illusion! Resistance does not exist. Deception does not exist, except as a temporary illusion which ultimately surrenders to Reality. Reality is the Everlasting Covenant. It is built into the fabric of the universe, all around us. Time and Experience bear witness to the Truth. You cannot not have Truth. You cannot not Love. It is inevitable, inexorable. All you can do is surrender or kid yourself a little longer!

Caitlyn
You stated in another form that you are not a
Christian. But I can see that you are reading the
Bible where Truth is revealed. But I would like
to show you somthing in John 14:6 Jesus claims
that he is the way the truth and life. Jesus
himself is truth and he can give it to you (John
14:17-26 and John 15:26) by his Spirit or the
Spirit of Truth. For it is only with God that we
can see Truth. If you believe that you are lost
and believe that Jesus has redeemed you at the
cross and accept his Gift of eternal then He seals
you with the Spirit how will lead you in Truth.
It is not us or anybody else or you yourself, but
Jesus alone.

AMEN Bruce!

Caitlyn, I want to start by telling you God loves you so much. I'll be praying for you and your daughter. I hope the light of Jesus Christ will shine into your lives and show you the ONLY way to eternal life. The reality is,Jesus WON(notice past tense)the victory! Truth is Christ and the finished work of the cross. Many people have denied the sufficiency of the cross and have not accepted the Truth. I can think of many who deny Truth. I'm not sure what you mean by your statement that it's impossible to have Truth.?

What a joy it is to have the assurance of salvation and eternal life, that are ONLY available through Jesus. Praise God that I know where I'll spend eternity.

In Christ alone!
