Hello

I was wondering about your experiences going to SDA churches and activities as former SDA's and christians to speak the word (evangelize) to them?

My SDA friend is inviting me to more or less all of their happenings, trips and so forth .. and so far I have declined on the basis that I will not take part of it and in that manner aprove of the SDA church and their teachings.

Mwh,

Well, is she willing to go to church with you? If you go with her, keep your armor on.

Just keep sharing and praying about it and you will likely know what to do.

Hola Mwh~

Even though I'm not SDA, I went to church hundreds of times with my in-laws. The worship service is pretty generic, slow hymns, a sermon, offering, etc. The difference is that they quote Ellen G White an awful lot (or at least they did at the church I went to) and you'll hear more on rules (like don't go to the movies, don't dance, don't drink Coke, don't eat meat, blah blah blah) But since I at least had confidence in my own faith, I never felt the need to join. You could still feel comfortable in worshipping God there, although you may find yourself rolling your eyes once in a while. You going may open your friend's heart enough to listen to some "sola scriptura" from you.

Also, it would give you opportunities to point out weird stuff to her... like I do with my husband.

Just an idea! :-)

Mwh, I believe God can clarify to you whether or not to go to the SDA church with her. To some degree, you may find it helpful to attend at least once or a few times. You'll have a better idea of what goes on and how they teach (as Grace suggested above), and she may feel more like you're willing to "share" church.

If you go, praying for God's protection and armor, you will be OKóthe problem comes when people are unsuspecting and don't realize that they're hearing the subtle deception of false teaching camouflaged in words sounding like truth.

I suspect you probably won't be able to tolerate going more than a few times because of the spiritual lethargy thereóbut a visit or two might be helpful!

I have kids now so I don't go at all now when asked - only weddings/funerals. I will now allow my kids to go. I've gone with my husband before we had kids because my father was the pastor at the church and we were visiting from out of state. Remember you are most likely being invited because they are hoping you will come back to the fold.
