Hi Tim, Wow! It does seem like this is getting bigger by the minute, but when people are praying who knows what God will do.

Here in Lincoln, Nebraska, our FAF group had a social event last evening with about 26 in attendance--including the children.

I am interested in finding out if there are any formers in my neck of the woods--Grass Valley, CA. For those who requested my leaving experience, it was posted in STORIES. The NEW one.

Hi 91 steps and everyone else. I am in Anne Arundel county at the moment.
What church do you attend? I just happened to be reading a few of these posts tonight and saw yours,

I can hardly believe it's been over a year since I 'left' the adventist church- and even more unbelievable is the fact that few people know it. I am however on a quest to accomplish that. Hope everyone is doing great

Like Teresa, I've lurked for years...at least 3-4. Thanks for praying that we lurkers would come out of the woodwork!

I'm in Asheville, NC. There is such a huge concentration of SDA here with Mt. Pisgah Academy, Fletcher Academy as well as Park Ridge Hospital, Flether Retirement Center, and a hotbed for SDA retirees, Hendersonville, NC, that I am sure there must be many formers like me. Who is lurking out there that feels alone but didn't know there was someone else?

It is truly amazing to read through this thread. We read posts from folk and have come to know them by their "handles" and not their addresses. As I have read through this thread I am struck, again, at what appears to be an awakening within the Adventist Church. This isnít a localized phenomenon. Demonstrated by the following (AR-1, WA-4, MI-4, GA-1, MO-1,CA-6, KY-1, TX-1, OR-3, FL-2, NV-1, MT-3, NE-1, MS-1, MN-2, VA-1, CO-1, UT-1, MD-3, PA-1, NC-1) and these are just the ones who have posted.

Just this week I had a co-worker, who is an ìAdventistî pull me into his office and ask me how I could worship on Sunday after having known and been and Adventist all my life. I did my best to share my opinion, but there was the anchor of the SDA church sitting on his chest, Sabbath.

BTWÖÖ.SusanS, my sister lives in Black Mountain, NC although I haven't been back in some time. I have classmates from FLA that live in the area as well.

Jeremiah, when you say SW Montana, those of us who live here assume Bozeman, although I suppose it could either be the Bitterroot or Dillon. We have close friends that live in Bozeman and are there often. There is also a small group of formers who are meeting weekly for Bible study there.

Add Ohio to the list. Ric_b and I are from Ohio, and we personally know of 8 others just here in our area. When we first left, we thought we were the only ones! And we have a Friday Night Formers Bible Study group that's listed on the links here. We've already finished Romans and are almost through John. Galatians is next.

SW-central Montana is more accurate for where I live... I currently live close to Garrison. I regularly go to Butte and Helena, and sometimes Missoula.

It's interesting that there is a group in Bozeman... That's a little bit of a drive for me.

If all those who lurk would add their alias and state I can imagine the number of formers would triple or more. IMHO.
Isn't it awesome how God has lead us individually and brought us to HIM???

Yes it is, Diana. There are many lurkers out there, and I like to think it's God who has impressed just the few of us who in the last week or so have made their presence known. It's like Elijah who thought he was alone and God told him there were many others out there.

I get this mental picture in my mind of a group conversing and out of the corner of their eyes, people emerge from the shadows saying, we've been listening to you, and even though shy or frightened, confused, or for whatever reason, have decided we'd like to join in your conversation.

There are more out there...it's safe to say hello, and you are needed.

God is good!

I was a reader of FAF forum since just about the beginning of it... back then I was still pretty sure SDA's were the one true church, since I was born into the church. I had no idea that people could leave the SDA church and get closer to God in the process! That's what FAF showed me.

Then I joined FAF but didn't post for awhile because I was afraid of what friends would think if they found out. But my faith is stronger now and I am not so afraid.

FAF has been a tremendous help to me.

Melissa,
It is okay that you are not a former. I think you have seen that by now. You are involved with an SDA and have been affected by what they believe. You would be welcome in any former group as you are our Christian sister.
God is awesome in how He brings us together.
Diana
