Richard found this story in the news this morning. Apparently a student colporter from Perto Rico was selling books in Florida for the summer along with several others who had come to FL for that purpose. He was struck by a bolt of lightning that came out of a clear blue sky.

He did not die but is in ICU in stable but serious condition. Apparently this is the second episode in two weeks of someone being struck by a lightning bolt descending out of a blue sky in Florida.

The story doesn't say this student was SDA, but is shows a close-up of the book he was selling, and it was Keys to Happiness, the repackaged, evangelistic version of Steps to Christ.

You can read the story here: http://kutv.com/watercooler/watercooler_story_190140139.html

It is my understanding that the State of Florida has more lightening strikes than any other State. From my visits there, I have noticed their sudden bursts of rain showers. My mother-in-law lives in Avon Park (amid the orange groves). We used to visit the Donald Duck orange juice plant to buy dented frozen orange juice at a discount.

I saw the story on the news and wondered if the colporter was SDA. It seems like such a random act of nature, but God is in control in the midst of it all. Hope he gets well soon and that he finds real assurance in Jesus.

When we lived in St. Petersburg those electrical storms would come up and lightning would strike all over the place and the skeeters like to have ate my wife up.
One night I was cleaning some equipment up about 11 o'clock when unknowingly I got some M.E.K.P. in my hair, I got in my car to go home and the further I drove the worse my head burned so I screetched my car to a halt and jumped in the ocean cloths and all, I don't have too many good memories of Florida except the fishing was great.

Another time a shear pin broke on my prop and here I was in the water hanging on to this prop shaft, the action of the waves lifting me up and down in the water, dangling me for shark bait, I was never so relieved to get back in that boat.
I don't miss Florida and I worked down there on two diffrent occasions.
No more Florida for me.
