Happy Thanksgiving Day to every one of you lurking and learning on this forum. I'd like to say a special thank you to Colleen and Richard for making this a powerful healing voice to those questioning what they learned and those seeking to know God's will for their lives.

I was contemplating what is different about Thanksgiving now that I'm several years post-SDA. Here's a start...

1. We're having turkey and I don't feel less spiritual for not being a vegetarian.
2. There's a lot more joy in celebrating by thanking Jesus.
3. We attended a multi-church Thanksgiving service with believers who understand Jesus' prayer for unity doesn't mean we have to agree on all doctrines but we can still love and respect our brothers and sisters in the Body of Christ.

Any one else notice a difference?

I can truly be thankful to Jesus for dying on the cross and being ressurected from the grave.
It means so much more to me post adventism.

I am thankful Jesus put his blood on heavens mercy seat 2000 years ago, not 164 years ago! We are very blessed in that regard.

What is different? I feel a difference in my heart, a very comfortable feeling. Nothing stated, just a very real sense of freedom. I also feel very thankful for what I have learned from other (non-SDA) Christians.

This is my first Thanksgiving where I can say I am no longer SDA.

So what am I thankful for? I'm thankful for the revelation that:

1) I now see that "the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit" (Rom 14:17).

2) In Jesus Christ I am seated in the heavenly places (Eph 2:6).

3) There is no condemnation against me (Rom 8:1). God does not consider me a sinner anymore.

4) I am dead to the Law through the cross, and Jesus now lives in me, so that a righteousness greater than Moses is at work in me, to produce all kinds of good in me through the grace of God, and not by my efforts. (Gal 2:19,20).

5) While I only had the shadow of Jesus before, I now have Him in His substance (Col. 2:16,17).

6) I am not some slave who needs to appease God by keeping the Law of Moses, but Abba's son, given the Spirit of Adoption so that I may enjoy the same Father-Son relationship that has existed between the Father and Jesus from eternity to eternity (Gal. 3:27 to 4:7, and Rom. 8:12-17).

7) I now know that Jesus became sin for me so that I may become the righteousness of God (2 Cor. 5:21).
