But nothing to warrant a big discussion. In the church calendar is a prayer and Eucharist service listed for tonight at 7. I don't have a car so I'd planned to use the bicycle but then my son said he'd take me but I'd have to wait a half hour early
So I got to the church. Was the only one who showed up. The service must have been cancelled and since I didn't attend this A M I didn't know. I called my son to come get me. It was super cold out there waiting so I walked around the church and checked all the doors. Lo and behold one door was left unlocked. I like to think God sent me to the church for the non existant service to lock the door. I did though call the pastor and tell him whoever has the job of checking the doors has been slacking. Just wanted to share that. I am thankful I could do that.

Its a good thing they didn't leave me to lock the doors. I would forget my head if it weren't attached to my shoulders. I hope you didn't tell the pastor the person was a slacker as it could have been someone who is just getting older... like me. :-)

River, you are funny. But, there is stuff in the church that would be sad if it was stolen. Several years ago one very expensive electrical guitar was stolen from the church. They have video surveillance so they got it back. But, it was a big hassle. I'm glad I was board and went around checking the doors.

Just for the fun of it, I'd like to mention that a thief (or thieves) stole some of those "holy" cups or whatever they're called from a Catholic church once and tried to sell them to the mafia. The mafia told them to return them or else! (I thought that was funny - but when one thinks about it, it's kind of sad because most, if not all mafia members are Catholic and they think that the Catholic church is their salvation. They didn't want their "salvation" messed with! Come to think of it, not only the mafia, but also the drug lords of Mexico are usually Roman Catholic. Even though that religion permits such glaringly obvious evil, the SDA religion isn't any better - they just "look" better because they're taught that "works" are required.)

Kind of along the same topic, Asurprise, I went to SDA schools off n on growing up and around a half dozen of the SDA boys in the class one year behind me got busted with the ATF and FUN on federal gun running charges. All ended up doing time in the federal prison. The parole agent told me the more restrictive the person is brought up the more likely the person has not learned societies boundaries and he gets alot of parolees from restrictive religious backgrounds. Paul Harvey did a segment on this and California Magazine also did a feature. This would have been in around 1979 or so. 14 got popped, about half were SDA.
