In her book, Christ's Object Lessons, page 155, Ellen White said: "Those who accept the Saviour, however sincere their conversion, should never be taught to say or to feel that they are saved. This is misleading. Every one should be taught to cherish hope and faith; but even when we give ourselves to Christ and know that He accepts us, we are not beyond the reach of temptation."

Ah... so a person cannot say they're saved because they can be tempted?! Adventists are easily deceived by these words. After all, the words are beautifully put together, but are they biblical?

I know of three passages where believers had been assured that they HAD BEEN SAVED! Here they are.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

"But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to His own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit" Titus 3:4-5

"Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, WHO SAVED US and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of His own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began" 2nd Timothy 1:8-9

Were believers in the early church not tempted? Didn't they ever sin? But even more important, it's VERY clear that Ellen White contradicts the Bible in her statement above.

(When I was an Adventist, I figured that Ellen White explained the Bible, but in this case, I couldn't reconcile the two oposing statements so I didn't fully believe either one. Instead I attempted to take what the Bible said and what Ellen White said metaphorically and STILL didn't have any assurance of salvation!)

And here's a verse that blew my socks off!!!

"I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name's sake." 1st John 2:12

Isn't that amazing?! Think about it. John was WRITING a letter to the believers that still would have been true by the time they received it. That's FUTURE sins he's talking about!

Jesus saves us. We know we are saved when we trust in Him. We accept His death on the cross as a substitute for the punishment we were supposed to get.

Great post, Asurprise! It's amazing; when we are born again, our Father transfers us out of the domain of darkness into the kingdom of His beloved Son!! (Col 1:13)

We pass from death to life! (Jn. 5:24)

I can remember one day ran across a SDA lady doctor who used to abuse me as a teenager in Colledgedale. As a disabled person she and others had some sort of dislike/pure hatred toward the disabled.

Her hateful comments that EGW says human animals like me are not allow into heaven. When I mentioned the Bible allows all men and women equal chance at salavation, she replied that it does not and that GOD himself says the handicapped will be consigned to the fires of Hell.

I handed her my bible and told her to prove it. She threw down the bible on the ground and started to curse me.

Am glad got out of that cult pretending to be a religion. The Bible freed me which am thankful.

It goes to show that the Bible is above all things and a SDA who relies on EGW is not going to stand up against the Holy Scriptures aka the WORD OF GOD.

As for bibles, if you all not gotten this. I highly recommend this bible am using. Holy Bible From the Ancient Eastern Text (got it online years ago and much better IMHO then the KJV/NKJV which unfortuantly EGW adventists uses to back up thier so called false doctrines).

Thalarian, welcome. Yes, usually SDA's are very uncomfortable with people who don't meet their criteria of perfection. Never mind that jesus Himself seemed to spend a lot of time mingling with the disabled and people with differences outside the usual range. EGW was very mentally disturbed. I in fact believe she was demon possessed. I'm happy to hear you got out of there
I hope you have found a body of Christians to worship and socialize with. Welcome.

Thalarian, welcome to the forum,

Years ago on the evening new down in the Bay Area I saw Jim Jones do the same thing with a bible. Only someone with extreme hatred and most likely demon possessed would do such a thing because nobody who loves God and his Holy Word would do such a thing.

Thalarian,

Welcome! I'm so sorry you were abused by that doctor. You didn't deserve to be treated with such disrespect. Glad you're here.

I also believe, as Punababe does, that EGW was demon possessed. Does anyone have the quote/source of where she said these things about disabled people? I would like to add it to my collection of EGW quotes to have handy when I have the opportunity to witness to questioning folks. Thanks.

Thalarian,

Welcome! You're in great company here. That Dr. is about the worst case I've heard of. Pretty sad.

Some really good, reliable translations that Formers and Evangelicals use are ESV, NASB, and NIV. A good website to check out many is BibleGateway.com

Welcome to the forum, Thalarian! :-)

(The best translations are the ESV and the NAS. One is the best thought for thought and one is the best word for word translation. SDAs don't really get their doctrines from the KJV and NKJV. They twist what those versions have to say - as they would do with any Bible.)

Welcome Thalarian, I am not on here too often. Back when I joined the church they sda's would fall all over themselves going after handicap people. I am so sorry you had a dr who was not only abusive but also as an adventist.
I am sooooooo glad you are here as you are among friends who understand and are searching for thruth and we help each other out.

Hi Thalarian! I'm so glad you're here. Thank you for sharing about what happened to you--how awful. You are warmly welcomed here. I shudder to think of the patients that had any "treatment" by such a horrendous person.
