Now, this is just a parable. It's not a sin to desire candy. I'm just using this as an example to show any Adventists reading this how Adventist doctrine teaches that those who go "through the time of trouble" will have overcome the desire to sin since Ellen White said that "after probation closes people will live in the sight of a holy God without a mediator." Those of you who've been on diets know that while you're dieting and after you've eaten a nutritous meal, you don't desire candy right then. You might even say: "Oh, I'm doing good at this diet. I'm not even hungry for candy!" But then, the next thing you know, you want candy again and there goes your diet! Now Adventists, since they aren't saved, don't have the Holy Spirit within them to help them to not WANT to sin! So for them, it's "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" without even realizing that's what they're doing. (What I mean is, they think they're "pushing out their sins in Jesus' strength," because they've accepted the 27 [or is it 28] fundemental beliefs! For those who recognize their tendencies toward sin, the SDA religion plunges them into black despair. For those who think they're doing pretty good - they've never gotten a glimpse of God's absolute holiness - they feel that they're doing okay. They're taught not to accept Jesus' free gift of salvation. They're taught that part of obtaining salvation is up to them, so they never accept it. That's the saddest thing of all. They think they'll be saved, but they've never been born into God's kingdom. It grieves me to realize that those people will hear Jesus say to them: "I never knew you." Matthew 7:23 (Of course Adventists will point out verse 21 where Jesus says that the ones who do "the will of My Father" will be saved. And what is the will of the Father? John 6:28-29 says: "Then they said to him, 'What must we do, to be doing the works of God?' Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.'” Adventists aren't "believing in Him" when they think that salvation is partly up to their works. They never study the New Covenant to see what it's about. Instead they study the lies that have been so subtly twisted by the evil one to keep them from ever being saved.  ) | ||

I knew nothing of the New Covenant until I came out of SDAism. There is just so much more to it then the SDA meaning of the "law written on the heart". I didn't even realize fully what the old covenant was let alone that there are other covenants too. I see SDAism now as a rewash over and over again of the same teachings, EGW with scattered biblical verses to back her up. Anyone can use the Bible to prove anything if they take verses here and there and everywhere to prove something, leaving out the verses in context and not mentioning other ones at all ever. | ||

I wonder if that's what these verses means... I mean the cults that ignore what the Word of God really says. If I remember right, I think Ellen White quoted part of it - the "precept upon precept and line upon line" part. "And the word of the Lord will be to them precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little, that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken." Isaiah 28:13 I wonder if Ellen White really knew she was deceiving the people instead of being just herself deceived? After all she denied her followers the Rest of resting in Jesus' finished work. Yes, Asurprise, it was pretty shocking to me when I discovered that the precept-upon-precept quote was part of a statement of a curse. They would not clearly hear the word of the Lord when they were taken into exile. Amazing. Colleen |
