Greetings FAFers!

I wanted to pass along to all of you that I received my first assignment for when I finally get out of my tech school. I've been assigned to the 9th Civil Engineering Squadron at Beale AFB, CA, which is just north of Sacramento. This isn't anywhere close to the choices I put down which were all in the Southeast, but then there's the whole thing of the needs of the Air Force come first and yada yada yada. We weren't exactly expecting to be moving clear acorss the country, but that's what we'll be doing in about four months. Sara and I are actually excited about the prospect of being out there. She does have extended family out there, unfortunately they are the same ones she became SDA with and the same one who have disowned me for not being SDA and converting Sara out of it. From what Sara has told me, this is a serious thorn in our side that's only going to be exaserbated with us being so close to them (they live in Fresno, which is only three hours away). Her stepmom has already told Sara that we are eternally lost and that their blood and the blood of my kids are on my hands for not being Seventh-day Adventist. Whatever. It is a point of concern for Sara and I, but at the same time we'll see what happens. In the meantime, I'm freezing my tail off in Missouri (when you live in Florida anything below 50 is freezing!), and Sara is doing well with CJ. That's about it for now. I'll be by again soon! God bless!

Hey Joel,
When you get out here, let me know. I'm only two hours away in Tahoe. I have a son named C.J. as well---but he's five! Anyway, I know the area pretty well and can show you around some. There is someone else on this board who is in Carmichael, which is a suburb of Sacramento.

Joel, California will be quite a change for you, but it's nice; I like the Sacramento area. It's near the Sierras, and there are flourishing farmlands. It gets hot, but I've no room to talk about hot living as I do in So. Cal! How exciting!

You'll need God's grace to deal with Sara's family; We'll continue to pray for you both. If you find a good church and become involved, that will help to relieve the discomfort of being near family that doesn't really behave like family. It sounds as if her folks are particularly angry right now. Keep praying for God to keep you both grounded in reality and truth. Jesus and the truth of the gospel are 'way more powerful than the anger of deception!
