I saw the thread of the adventist church in China. It got me to thinking, what about the church growth in the Phillipines? Danny Shelton came to our church (in person!)a few years ago. (ok, quiet now, enough with the oooohs and aaaahs!) Yes, He graced us with His Presence, and told us all about the new church growth exploding all over in the Philippines. He said that as a result of 3ABN efforts, even the president of the Philippines was favorable towards the adventists, even to the point of attending their services. I know that Danny has a tendency to talk to excess, but does anyone know if the growth of the sda church has been as explosive as Danny says it is? I haven't been able to find much out on it...
Oh. Yes. And He did tell the story of the wealthy person who was impressed to give free air time to His broadcasts, after a little "arm twisting" as Danny said in not exactly those words.
You should have been there. The awe and admiration in our congregation was palpable. Linda was not with Him at that time, I think it was about a year after their separation...
That's about all on my mind at the moment.
Thanks for being here, guys. I appreciate it.

Jason, I think the president of the Philippines must be an SDA, Penticostal, Babtist, Methodist, I have heard the same stories of other denom's.

If the growth in the Philippines is as explosive as I have heard everybody over there must have been converted two or three times.

Ha! That's funny, River.

Zjason, I have heard that Adventism is quite popular in the Philippines...although that has, I believe, been true for quite some time. I take everything Danny Shelton says with a grain of salt...

Hey Colleen!

I should own some stock in Morton Salt Company. The reason being that if you have to take a grain with every thing ol' Danny says, well you would use a TON of salt. I would be a rich man! If that was the case, I'd buy 3ABN and turn it into a 24hour CHRISTIAN broadcasting station. Actually, I would probally give it to those guys at TBN. Hmm...maybe not...

Course you could say the same thing about me, when River speaks, just shovel and make yourself a lot of money.

I would take what Danny says with a grain of salt, but the SDA church I attend against my will is predominantly Filipino, and yes, Adventism is very popular in the Philippines.

Last Sabbath when I stopped there after attending Seventh Day Baptist church I was "hit up" for a dontation to help with a new church being built in the Philippines. I didn't want to look like a jerk so I gave what I had in my wallet($5) and aftewards wondered if what I just did wasn't as bad as giving someone some dope. LOL.

I hear talk from members of the SDA church that I attend against my will how easy it is to "convert" people to Adventism in the Philippines as compared to the US and Canada.

Oh and I wanted to add that my brother and his wife just got back from the Philippines where they were visting her family there. Neither my brother or his wife are SDA( he is a non-denominational Christian and she is Roman Catholic) but he mentioned they noticed a lot of SDA churches in the area that his wife is orginally from.

Reb, if you go to the FAF reunion photos in the Proclamation magazine for 2006, you will find some photos on the last page. I think the last photo on the bottom right is of the Philipinos I met last year. It gives their names also. And yes, my photo is there also.
I think Colleen can connect you to them, if they want to be connected.
