"Do you hear much about end times in sermons at your church"? This question was asked last night minutes after I arrived at my in-laws house. I had been riding for 5 hours, and the last 30 minutes of the trip I pulled out my newest Proclamation magazine to read. In it was mentioned the great mailout of the Great Controversy--I walk in the door to my in-laws, and
my mother in law handed me a copy she had just received in the mail, eager to talk about end times. (she is a never been sda, mainline protestant christian who has never had contact with SDA's other than me!) She had no idea it was SDA propaganda. The cover has no author or publishing house listed. She had a hard time believing that is was SDA, or that they would try to disguise this fact. She thought the book was published in 2008, as she had not read the small print....
Its one thing to hear about the mass distribution, but much more personal and disturbing when I see people like my sweet born again elderly in-laws receiving this stuff! I do love God's timing, in letting us arrive before she had a chance to read it! A few minutes ago I noticed it in the wicker trash can...

Lori! Praise God...and I'm so glad you saw that book in the trash! God is faithful. I can't believe (well, yes, I can...) how deceptive this SDA evangelistic push is...

I think part of the reason people are attracted to prophecy seminars is that so many churches don't preach from Daniel or Revelation at all. When they hear Daniel 2 and 7 interpreted, many think - Wow! Adventists really do know their stuff.

That's part of the reason I attended and fell for it. Just sayin'.

Joyfulheart, that is a very good insight. Studying Daniel this past year in women's ministry was amazing. To learn that God had revealed to Daniel a big picture of His plans for the gentile world was such an insight. Also, Elizabeth pointed out that the times of the gentiles of which Jesus spoke in Luke 21:24, during which the holy city would be trampled under foot by the gentiles until the times of the gentiles ended, began with Babylon--the head of Nebuchadnezzar's image. From the time Neb exiled the Jews from the Southern Kingdom and demolished Jerusalem, Israel has never been sovereign over that land or city. Even when Israel went back to the land and rebuilt the temple under Ezra and Nehemiah, they were never sovereign. They were under the authority of Persia, and then Greece, and then Rome--and then exiled in the great diaspora. Only in 1948 did a nation come back that belongs to Jews...and they STILL are not obedient to God. And even now the temple mount belongs to Islam. It is a mosque, not a temple, that stands over the site of Mt. Moriah where Abraham offered Isaac, the place where the Holy of Holies was.

The times of the gentiles are not yet over...

And not only is Islam in charge of the temple mount, but they seem wholly bent on establishing a worldwide caliphate based on Shari'a law. They seem bent on becoming the mark of the beast, taking over the world and forcing it to bow to their false god and false prophet! Of course, I don't know if Islam will do that and become the mark of the beast. Satan is able to bring ALL his false religions together and creat a new religion out of the mix.

As you know SDAs are already reaching out to Islam. Here's an article in "Adventist World" where the author William G. Johnnson met with a Muslim sheik who had dreamed about the Adventists.
quote:
“Sir,” I asked, “is it true that you received a vision about Seventh-day Adventists?”
“Not one, but three,” he replied. “All three had the same message: Seventh-day Adventists are the true People of the Book [a term from the Koran, designating followers of Allah who are not Muslims]. Adventists already are God’s people, so do not try to convert them. Instead, work with them.”

Lori, I've found 6 paperback GCs in local "friends of the library" bookstores lately...I consider it a privilege to spend a little $ to get them out of circulation!! They keep changing the cover art, title & are so good @ hiding the organization publishing them. G-r-r.

I've found them at garage sales, too. When the sellers are Christians they actually listen to me when I explain & give them to me to destroy. My whole life, until God called me out, was spent in terrible fear from the stuff taught in this book. I believed it all.

Was terrified of the second coming as I knew I was still sinning every day!

Yes, where I live each library has the free rack. There are GC's on it as well as números JW publucations. I always snag that trash and since where I live every person has to haul their own rubbish to the dump I know it ends up in Its rightful location.

Lucybugg~

What you said in your comment made me :-)

It reminded me, that this is what I used to do when
I worked in Riverside, Ca (after denouncing adventism)~
I frequented the local "Christian" book store~

I have long-since moved~ but I remember very well
my determination to do what I could to dispose
of the heretical adventist propaganda on the "Free" racks in the store!

Keep up the good work!

When I was little, my Daddy would call it the Hoggley Woggley. That's funny stuff when you're about 8 years old. He would always come up with funny names for things. I miss him so much! He was my Hero
