OK, I admit it...I am SOO tired of hearing Adventists say their "health message" is not a religious or spiritual or salvational "requirement" for them. That denial is only the way they justify their attachment to vegetarianism to those who sense the truth about their position.

We just listened this morning to Ted Wilson's address to the Annual Council going on right now in Silver Spring, Maryland. He primarily expounded on two things:

Burden #1. Our need for a full understanding of medical missionary work and health reform as an integral part of Mission to the Cities

Burden #2. Our great need for selfless unity in Christ as we proclaim the three angels' messages.

Wilson went on at some length about the role of the "health message" as the "right arm" of the third angel's message which is to "Come out of her, my people." He stressed the necessity of the church using and rallying behind the "health message" as a means of disseminating Adventism around the world.

Here's a quote:

This ministry of Jesus is to be the burden of every Seventh-day Adventist. In following Christ's work for the people of the cities, where possible, we are to work with an "in" and "out" concept as found in the Spirit of Prophecy. This expansive work will involve every church member and the use of every evangelistic resource employed in every possible outreach and witnessing activity.

In every city Seventh-day Adventists should minister to people not only from their local churches but also from such centers of influence such as health clinics, vegetarian restaurants, reading rooms, counseling centers, and community service centers. Health lectures, literature evangelism, small-group outreach, door-to-door mission work, innovative media evangelism, social work that follows Christ's methods, personal and small-group Bible studies, public evangelism, comprehensive health ministry, and a myriad of other creative outreach initiatives still to be developed through the leading of the Holy Spirit should be the hallmark of our work in the cities.

This work will require the involvement of lay membership as well as established denominational ministries such as Adventist Community Services, ADRA, Adventist World Radio, Hope Channel, Adventist Book Centers, and many, many others.

I am so tired of hearing Adventists say they are vegetarian/vegan because of their own personal health, not for spiritual reasons. That's just self-deception. This "health message" is spiritual.

It is the core of their proselytizing efforts, and they absolutely believe they need to follow the no-meat, no-caffeine, no-stimlants or alcohol principles if they can hope to hear the Holy Spirit and have increasing spiritual experiences.

This belief is paganism! It denies the nature of "spirit" and the way the Holy Spirit works, and it completely ignores the need to be born again. It sounds oh-so-progressive and noble, but it is useless in the big picture.

Paul nailed the problem in Colossians 2:20-23:

If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations—“Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

The adventist "Health Message" is just one of a multitude of issues that is unique to their "Worldview"~ All the more reason for them to be exposed for the attempt to deny the "Gospel of CHRIST"~ and continue to mislead countless people, which produces despair, when they realize they cannot possibly live up to the expectations that are required by the church~

The Life Assurance Ministry Team is so important in the dissemination of Biblical "TRUTH"~ this gives courage to "Formers" to do likewise, both to the Christian community, adventists, and others looking for "TRUTH" and Hope in this world~

Thank-you for all your work in this endeavor!

It is interesting when confronted that some brag about eating meat.

At Barnes & Nobles an Adventist read my book titled
'Forsaking All Others'. A story in which the character joins an Adventist church.

The story really got the person going and here is the review after the person read the book.

I’m glad I didn’t pay for this book because it&rsquo

I’m glad I didn’t pay for this book because it’s clear that the author has either had a bad experience with Seventh Day Adventists or he just plain doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
First of all, SDAs are NOT a cult. But, I can understand why someone would believe they are because of their adherence to the teachings of Ellen White which are not always in line with the Bible.

I am SDA. I eat meat, I wear jewelry (lots of it!) and I wear make-up. The bible does not prohibit these things and if you know the bible, you can get the most conservative SDA to admit it. However, the 7th day IS the Sabbath and that’s not an invention of Ellen White. It is for all men, not just Jews and is supported by scripture from Genesis clear through Revelation. Do some research. The change from the 7th day to the 1st day was by the Roman Catholic Church and is a fact of history. They even admit it.

What this book does, whether the author intended it or not, is emphasize the importance of knowing the bible for yourself. I think it was the Corinthians who would always check behind Paul to make sure that what he preached was God’s truth. Most people don’t do this. They believe whatever their pastors say, or whatever the tradition of their families is.

I have seen Adventists who are narrow, rigid and just plain wrong, like the bunch Marla in the story fell in with. I have known others who put the bible ahead of anything Mrs. White had to say. These are the Adventists worth knowing and learning from.

Its interesting the reviewer brings up the same old tired line, the writer (me) had a bad experience with Adventists or he just plain doesn't know what he is talking about.

The idea for the story was based on the story of one of our forum members as told in her own words.

The one thing about my story is that it will not answer back and in spite of the reviewers apparent overwhelming anger at me, I was able to look beyond the anger at what God might be doing with the story in his/her life.

Those who care enough to step outside their comfort zone and confront Adventism will continue to be met with scorn, anger, denial and tiredness of spirit to name a few things.

It can be disheartening for a writer to be met with such anger, and sometimes you just get bone tired, but I cannot stress enough that we are not alone.

One reviewer said this, " Wonderful

I love this author. His stories sadden and at the same time uplift me. Each of his books are short 20 minutes or less reads, but they stay with you for so much longer.

Life Assurance Ministries stay with that person much longer than the anger lasts.

When I grow tired in spirit God sends someone such as this reviewer to lift me up.

I know at times when facing Adventism we feel as if we are facing a giant and all of us are subject to this feeling.
In that case, be encouraged today, bend over, select a smooth stone, draw back and sling it for all you are worth.

Absolutely right, Life Assurance team has been willing to step outside their comfort zone and confront Adventism for what it is and we need to try and remember to pray for each one personally.

River, thank you for understanding and taking a stand as well. Your perception of the true nature of Adventism is a gift to us.

The curious thing is; by refusing to eat "unclean" meats, Adventists are, in effect, saying that the wall is still up between Jews and Gentiles. They're in effect saying that Gentiles are not God's people! Since most Adventists are likely Gentiles, it's really weird that they're inferring that they're NOT God's people! That they're SEPERATE from God and His people!
Check this out:

Here's God talking to Israel:
24 But I have said to you, ‘You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey.’ I am the Lord your God, Who has separated you from the peoples. 25 You shall therefore separate the clean beast from the unclean, and the unclean bird from the clean. You shall not make yourselves detestable by beast or by bird or by anything with which the ground crawls, which I have set apart for you to hold unclean. 26 You shall be holy to me, for I the Lord am holy and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be mine." Leviticus 20:24-26

And then of course, you know where Peter was given the vision of the sheet and the unclean animals in Acts 10 and where he said: "And he said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean." Acts 10:28

The SDAs feel that their Health Message is something great.
I think of Colossians 2 where it says "Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence."
Of course, these things look wise. Yet they have no value in making anyone holier.

The SDA's are so pious it's sickening. I have family members who act so superior to others. I have tried talking to them but, just didn't get through. I thought I was making some progress with my daughter until one day I found some tracts in the back seat of her car from the SDA saying Sunday observance was the Mark Of The Beast.

Beenthere, it's good to hear from you! I know what you mean. It's so frustrating to deal with the incredible deception and double-speak!
