How is praise different for you now? For me, praise was something that I had to manufacture while I was an Adventist. It was something I was supposed to do, so I tried to muster up praises whenever I feeling guilty because my prayers were all about me and my problems. I would get emotional in the music I listened to and performed, but it was mostly just a reaction to the beauty of the music itself, which is fine, but it never went any deeper than that. Sometimes the lyrics would touch my heart, but it was more a longing that the grace spoken of in the words might be true. I've felt God drawing me my whole life, and because of that, I longed for Him, but Adventism taught me a different Gospel and gave me another Jesus to worship, and he didn't satisfy. now, as a born again believer, praise is something that just naturally flows! It's not something I have to produce anymore. My heart is bursting with praise for my beautiful, wonderful Jesus. I can't even describe what praise and worship means to me now. It is such an awesome, powerful experience. It's not something I have to do, it's something that just happens because what's not to love about Jesus? I love how the words to Christian songs actually mean something to me now, and I experience music on a whole new level now. I love the song by Matt Redman, "10,000 reasons," because that is EXACTLY how I feel about praising Jesus! Even when I die, "still my soul will sing Your praise unending; 10,000 years and then forevermore!" It's going to take eternity for my heart to express to Jesus what He means to me. He truly is the most Beautiful One. | ||

Eternal-joy~ I feel the same way about Matt Redman's song~ '10,000 Reasons for my Heart to Sing'! I have it bookmarked and listen to it often~ I never tire of it and how it touches my heart~ JESUS CHRIST, is indeed, "the most Beautiful One." Blessings~ ~mj~ | ||

Oh, I LOVE that song!! And I also love "The New Doxology" and "In Christ Alone". Praise is new to me since being born again. "Song service" in Adventism was wearying. Now singing means something! Eternal Joy, I had reactions almost exactly like yours. I would get emotional over music, but I reacted more with longing than with true worship. Sometimes I felt thankfulness in a general way, but not for salvation or for Jesus' blood and resurrection. Colleen | ||

I love In Christ Alone and Blessed Be The Name - my pastor refers to "the cathedral of you car" and my hour long commute becomes a singing out loud praise and worship time many mornings- there is so much anointed music - he also calls the musicians "minstrel warriors" - our God inhabits the praises of His people and He sent the musicians out before the troops! | ||

The song service at our church is truly worship, and I've never experienced anything like it before! I start crying as soon as the music starts because the words are so true and beautiful. Sometimes I can't even sing because I'm so humbled yet at the same time I feel such joy. After the songs are over I feel like I've listend to a sermon. I wish you all could be there. It is awesome! | ||

I had nothing to praise the Lord for, when I was an Adventist, because I'd been taught that I'd be saved only if I kept doing my part of the bargain. Now I can see His love, goodness and mercy!  |
