I recently lost my cherished German Shepherd dog. Mindy to a condition that caused her elbows to deteriorate. She was only 4-1/2.
What do we know about if we will ever see our beloved pets again?

The Bible doesn't say anything about our pets. We know that Jesus came to redeem humanity, but we also know that the new heaven and earth will mean the whole physical realm will be redeemed.
Does that mean our pets will be there? We aren't told. There is no Scripture to suggest animals that lived here will receive eternal life and be in the kingdom, but we do know that there will be animals in the kingdom because Isaiah mentions the lion and the lamb, etc.
I know that God will do what He knows we need and what will glorify Him.

Thank you, Colleen.
You wrote "I know that God will do what He knows we need and what will glorify Him."
I know that it was God's providence that Mindy grace my times these past years. And though it hurts--Mindy's chapter ending as it has--I look forward, I am all ears to discover what will be written in the next chapter.
Some of you may remember, I completed an MDiv at Andrews seminary, and have "recently" completed health care chaplain training. I have had this application for a ministerial license partially completed for many months, just sitting there.
Now more than ever I feel a great need to be there for people, as Mindy was here for me.

I am so sorry ~ about "Mindy" ~
It is hard when a much loved pet dies~
These animals are our "Family"~
Over the years I have also experienced this loss.
I am glad to see that you are planning for the future and cherishing the memories of
"Mindy" in your heart.
As I read your post #116, regarding your license
to minister in the health-care field,
it reminded me of a book I recently read where
one of the characters was a young man, who felt led by GOD to minister to residents in a
long-term assisted living home.
Every time he visited he would take with him his two"Jack Russell" Terriers!
HE and the "Terriers" were such a "Blessing" !
Just some "Food" for "Thought" !
Praying GOD's guidance in your life as you make
decisions on what, "door to walk through"!

I am sorry you lost Mindy.
I had a cat named Mindy that I lost to a seizure nearly two years ago. She was a tiny calico cat and only one year old.
I have asked God that I will see my pets again.
Two years ago I lost my cat Violet. She died suddenly. I asked God that if Violet will be in Heaven, that He will give me a sign. I wanted to see a patch of white violets outside. The yard only had purple violets. That spring I noticed a patch of white violets under a window. They came up again last Spring too.
I do think we will see our pets in Heaven. God knows we love them, so I think they will be there.

I am sorry for your loss, also~
I believe that when you prayed for a "sign", you were certainly given one!
I have had similar things happen to me~
JESUS cares about every detail of our lives!

I'm really sorry, Goose. We lost our German Shepherd to hip dysplasia a little over a year ago; she was 13 years old. Everyone was devastated.
I've always believed that we would see our pets again. I know there isn't Scriptural proof for it, but it's just always been a personal belief of mine held with an understanding that I could be wrong but a sincere hope that I'm not.

I am sorry for your loss. As an animal lover, I am hoping our pets will be there to greet us in Heaven (earth made new) I believe they will be. I have no "proof" of course.... but God created the animals even before He created humans
As Colleen mentioned the "lion and the lamb" Also, in Revelation... doesn't it say that when Christ returns to this earth He will be on a white horse ? I doubt there is only ONE horse there. In fact I am quite sure my Daddy has been enjoying part of his time riding ;)

There are many "pet therapy" opportunities in all different types of facilities--hospitals to nursing homes. It's awesome to watch the elderly & non-verbal patients interact with the animals. I've seen people that haven't spoken to/interacted with other humans for a long time, touch, hold & start speaking to the dogs that came to see them every week.
You could get involved in something like that, Goose, as a first step!

I took care of my son's cat for 7-8 years. Sent it to him when I moved to NV. He died of cancer and was put to sleep in 2007. I miss Fang. He was an exceptional cat. My son found out before he died that he was a Maine Coon Cat.
I think it would be lovely to see him again in heaven.

Nowisee, that is a great idea! Goose, pet therapy really IS a wonderful thing! When my dad was dying and in a nursing home, we got permission to take our collie Smokey into his room. My dad loved Smokey (he actually loved animals, and animals always loved him). We let Smokey get up on the bed with my Dad, and Smokey happily lay beside him while my dad grinned and petted him. That is a great idea, Nowisee!
Diana, we had a cat, Dandy, that we think was Main Coon. They are exceptional cats: big, fluffy, companionable, good natured, playful. I loved our Main Coon as well. I had him nearly 20 years; gotta say I'd be really happy to see Dandy and Smokey again... !
