So, I have been getting pretty excited about the upcoming FAF weekend. I read the post several down from this one where Colleen gave us the outline of topics for the speakers who will be presenting. I couldn't help but reflect on my first conference in 2010. I thought it would be fun for those of us who have gone to the weekend to share with each other here on the forum which talks really opened your eyes to something new, particularly your first time going, but any weekend would be fun to share! If you can provide a link, please do, this will give lurkers and members alike a chance to hear it themselves if they want to.

The first thing I heard was on Friday night when Carolyn Macomber gave her testimony. This opened my eyes to the deception within Adventism's "higher education" and the integrity of "one of their own" walking away for God. It gave me courage as I walked through the weekend. You can see it here: http://youtu.be/4GbT8whb84A

That same night I heard the talk that forever changed my idea of Ellen G. White and Adventist leaders, it was given by Mark Martin and he discussed the clear word bible. You can see it here: <http://youtu.be/mbfugfo6v_m>

The next talk forever changed the way I saw what Jesus did. This one showed me the true gospel in a powerful way. It was given by John Rittenhouse, (this year's main speaker). It was about the security of the believer. You can see it here: <http://youtu.be/rqkin-mx6pm>

Then the whole weekend was wrapped up by my pastor's sermon, Accept No Substitute. It was on this day that I prayed to receive Jesus. You can hear his sermon here: http://www.truthcasting.com/player.aspx#showSermon=22403

When I look back over that weekend I see that I had been love bombed (complete with earthquakes and all) by my Father in Heaven! There were many of them, but 4 main ones stand out right now.

1) It's OK to question and to leave Adventism! (I realize now that it is not just OK, but necessary. However, all I was ready to hear that night, was that it was OK.)
2) Adventist's do not value my Word!
3) When I saved you it was a DONE deal! You are mine if you want me...forever.
4) There are false gospels, and I have placed you somewhere that I know you will be protected from wolves, my word is valued here, they will love you for me.

I had NO other choice but to say YES! <3 So I did. Not without consequence, but the good consequences continue to outweigh the bad. "Grace upon grace like the waves of the sea..."

Thank you Richard and Colleen for what you do! I love you guys!

I hope others will share. I love to hear about these eye opening moments for others who come to the conference (or now, who have seen it live streamed). I was blessed to sit by someone the year Mark Martin talked about the rapture. She was literally giddy about it! She caught me enjoying her joy! I do hope I get to see her again this year!

I love it that God glorifies Himself and knits hearts together at the FAF weekend. He is present, and He is honored. This weekend is the highlight of the year for us!

Let's see if this works, it's John Rittenhouse answering the question, "Does the Bible teach Once Saved Always Saved?" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQkIn-MX6PM

Just another note to say if you haven't signed up for the FAF weekend yet because of not being able to find or afford a place to stay...

One of our pastoral staff has offered three rooms that can accommodate one couple in each room. If you are still wanting to come but lodging is a "deal breaker", this availability may resolve that problem.

Again, the Conference is February 15-17 at Trinity Church in Redlands, California. You can read about it and register online here:

Thank you all for your support and prayers. Please pray as people begin to travel. Carolyn Macomber is already caught in a situation where her transportation is late, and a friend is taking her to another airport to catch her connecting flight to CA. Please pray for her and for everyone who is beginning to travel for the conference.

God is faithful!

I will be lifting you all up in my prayers... Every hurdle the devil places in your path is just another opportunity for God to show His mighty power and faithfulness! So wish I could be there, but a huge "thank you" for providing a live stream. I'll be watching :-)

Thank you to those who were praying for our travel. God is faithful.

The bus that I was catching to take to the airport broke down ... I waited and waited and waited ... calling the bus company and not getting any answers ... a bus was on the way ... had no idea when it would arrive ...

Finally, God had orchestrated everything ahead of time. A friend who was going in to her first chemo treatment - was unable to start chemo, because the insurance co. hadn't ok'd it. She knew I was praying for her throughout the day and we were keeping in constant communication through texting. She realized that I was stuck ... and because her husband had been home to take her to chemo (which wasn't going to happen, because of insurance) volunteered to come rescue me and drive me to the airport.

The insurance company then ok'd her treatment for the next day.

He came and we got to the airport just fine.

Thank you again,
Carolyn
