I live in a city with a SDA college, multiple SDA churches, and a significant SDA population. It's the kind of place where you can buy Loma Linda and Worthington products in any grocery store. The evangelical Bible-teaching church I attend has a relatively large former SDA contingent and several current SDAs will listen to sermons online or slip into the Saturday night services to hear the incredible teaching. So our pastor is very familiar with Adventism.

11 years ago our pastor preached through the book of Galatians. It was a pivotal time in my families life as we were just making the transition out of Adventism. As a result of this series, several friends decided to make the transition as well. Now, our pastor is revisiting in the book and there is no question in my mind about the fact that he is tailoring it to SDAs, at least in part. You've got to hear this. It's excellent. Part 1 was delivered on September 1. Part 2 was today.

Thank you Chris. I am downloading the two sermons right now... will put on my MP3 player and listen to them on my way to church and back this evening.

BTW : I haven't posted on here in a long time but I do pop in and read once in a while. I am so glad to see so many new people who are discovering the true Gospel and the errors of SDA doctrines.

Galatians is something SDAs NEED to accept. They also need Colossians 2.

I do wish that I realized we aren't under the Law much earlier.

Someone might know of such a church in the area.let me know. I will probably be here another month. Thanks, Peggy

Adventists need to take Galations literally instead of trying to force it to fit Ellen White!

I wonder how they would "weigh-in" on the Good-O-Meter in this video when they believe that they have to be sure that they're doing their part to make sure they're right with God?

I attended Blue Mtn Community Church a few years ago for Bible Study Fellowship but I didn't know much about it. It is a large active church, or was then. Phone book heading is under Church of God Anderson Indiana--Peggy

I really need a good book to follow the different
types of churches. This one is Wesleyan,
Arminian, Methodist in its roots according to Wikipedia . Peggy

If you are looking for a church where the Bible is taught 'chapter by chapter, 'verse by verse',
this is what a normal Calvary Chapel does.

Actually, this is what they are known for.

I have been attending a Calvary Chapel for many years, and have been greatly blessed.

Yes, the SDA church sure wouldn't be able to teach "chapter by chapter, verse by verse!" That would undermine the SDA teachings!

Thanks for the info everyone. I have never been to a Calvary Chapel, but have listened to sermons from Greg Laurie that I really like. I think he is Calvary Chapel. I was under the impression that they were very Biblical. I will definitely check it out!

I did attend Blue Mtn once quite a few years ago. But only went once, it was probably 8 years ago. I should see if they have sermons on line.

Regarding Galatians and Ephesians my family just won't acknowledge those Bible books by saying God didn't intend for them to be included in the Bible so disregard them as they are not supposed to be there.

Foofighter~

I checked the web site that was mentioned above with a Tom Rush on Birch St. in Walla Walla,
I believe Benevento mentioned it in his post #329.

Actually, it appears to be a 'Rescue Mission' for homeless families. I did not get the impression it is 'church', exactly. Such as having regular services, with a music worship team, Sunday School. etc.

Not all churches that advertise as a 'Calvary Chapel', are under the umbrella of the Founder of the Chapels, Chuck Smith, in Santa Ana, California. There are hundreds of 'Calvary's' under this umbrella, world wide.

In fact, Greg Laurie's church, Harvest Christian Fellowship, is included in this ministry.
This is the first 'Sunday' Church I attended when I was coming out of adventism! I was a member for nine years before I moved to my present home . I am very fortunate to attend a Calvary Chapel only four miles from where I live!

I will pray you will find a church where you can be taught the "Word" of GOD!

Hi MJ

Thank you for the update on the WW info. I have been interested in the WW area for my daughter who lives there. We are all formers, and she is still a believer, but she really has no one to go to church with her, and I'm pretty sure she won't go to a new church alone. To be honest, I'm not sure she is interested in going to church at the moment. I've been hoping to find something that she might like. Finding a church is such a personal thing, it seems it has to fit with your personality, or something like that.

Anywhoo...thanks again.

sO I PHONED the number I got off the web sight and they are affiliated with Chuck Smith and they are
in the old DeWitt funeral home across from the library.

They have a web site www.Calvarychapelww.org and they have church services Sunday at 10:30 and on
Wed night. I get the impression they are small.
I'll try to go next week and see what it is like.
so it really is a church. If any other formers
are looking for a church they would probably be glad to see you and I understand their teaching
is fundamental and good. Peggy

If it is anything like the Calvary Chapel I now attend, the pastor picks a book of the Bible. Starting at chapter one, verse one, he preaches through the whole book. A very good way for spiritual growth.

Just wanted to say thank you Chris for posting this. I watched part of it on-line but ended up buying the series on DVD. I'm going through it again and it is 'soul food' ! If you add 'anything', anything at all, to the gospel of Grace, then it is no longer Grace, but 'another Gospel', which is no gospel at all !

Welcome, David! And just to supplement your collection of Bryan Clark's Galatians series, his sermon based on the new covenant chapter 2 Corinthians 3 was in Proclamation not too long ago. It's an excellent article, and you can read it here: http://www.lifeassuranceministries.org/proclamation/2015/1/weareministersof.html

David,

I'm glad you're finding the series helpful. I often felt like Gatatians was written to Adventists.

Our GOD is so Gracious! and filled with Mercy!!

In the early 90's I truly believe that the HOLY SPIRIT used the
book of Galatians to "take away the veil"
from my blind 4TH generation Adventist eyes and
Wake Me Up!!
To the Truth of the covenants~ and what they really mean~

It was not long after I searched and found a church where this
Truth was being taught~ I received CHRIST as my LORD and SAVIOR!

I was SET FREE from the Law of sin and death!

Peggy~

By ALL means give Calvary Chapel a try!

If the pastor is anything like mine here in Orange County, California,
he will be teaching Scripture, book by book, line by line, and verse by verse!

I was attending a Calvary Chapel, (Harvest Christian Fellowship) pastored by Greg Laurie
when I was SAVED!

I pray GOD continues to bless you and give you discernment
and wisdom as you study His Word!
