With all the information available today, why do Christian apologetics ministries continue to fail to consider the SDA church to be a cult? A common response I hear is that there are several factions of the SDA church, one of which is more Evangelical so all SDA churches should not fall into the cult category. While it is true there are various shades of Adventists, but in the end all the churches adhere to the same 28 fundamental beliefs that include promotion of EGW's writings as inspired and authoritative, and the investigative judgment that denies the finished atonement at the cross.

Unfortunately, the answer is simple and Proclamation has already provided the answer:

Walter Martin was flatly lied to:
http://www.lifeassuranceministries.org/proclamation/2010/3/waltermartin.html

Unfortunately, Dr. Martin didn't fully comprehend the avalanche of deceit that he was buried under, until the end of his life, when it was too late. You can see his mounting horror in the 5-part John Ankerberg show, here:
http://www.exadventist.com/Home/Video/tabid/502/Default.aspx

Unfortunately, this seems to have locked Adventism's status in amber, and none of the evangelical anti-cult organizations will look at it any further.

What a shame!

Resjudicata~

It is a "shame"~!

I have mentioned here before in a post one of Walter Martin's daughters in-law
is my Bible Study Group at the church I attend.

We have had many discussions about her Father in-law and Adventism.
She has been open to reading and discussing many articles in Proclamation
that I have shared with her and also web sites.
Plus my personal "story"~!

All of this began in earnest when Ben Carson announced his desire to be President of America!
Another lady in my BSG is also grateful to understand what Adventists "really believe"~!

She and her husband are none to happy that Walter was lied to!
And (IMO) "used" by SDA's to spread their "agenda" far and wide!

However, I do believe, that in the end God will somehow use all this for good.

It seems to me that the presidential candidacy of Mitt Romney helped to expose Mormonism to many who had never considered what it was beyond ' they have great choirs' & they are called a cult; but few new really why that was.

I believe God is allowing SDAism to be brought into conscious consideration the same way by Ben Carson. Those who want to know are given the opportunity to question & seek answers & understanding.

For this, God be praised.

1john2v27nit~

I agree with you~

I noticed today that Dr. Ben Carson has slipped into single digits in the "polls"~

Perhaps, enough 'Evangelicals' are doing their 'homework' to cause this 'shift' ?~

Carson's downfall was the silly remark about the pyramids being used to store grain. And that was something that was officially-endorsed by Adventism and taught widely by them.

Ha! Yes, I believe that as well, 1john2v27. God allowed SDA to have the limelight. The issue of Proclamation now in the mail is entirely about the Adventist worldview and what they believe. The questions generated by Ben Carson brought all of this to a head, and we decided someone needed to provide some clear answers. Who better than formers who have learned the true gospel?

You know, each one of us is a miracle of God.

Watchman.org. has a profile on their site about the SDA church. Ben Mcphaull spoke at their conference back in September

Watchman is quite respected so hopefully more light will be shed on that deceptive system

They classify it as a "cult of Christianity". I think that is fair.

"Non-Christian cult" seems a bit harsh from a broad view of classifying world religions, as they do believe in Jesus.
