Carol, As a former Adventist, I'm sure you are tired of people telling you things that are not accurate or true. We were exposed to all manner of misrepresentations, twisting of context and meaning, and outright fabrication. We thought the Bible taught all kinds of things that it didn't. Heck, we accepted a lot of made up Ellen White stuff as being something that was probably in the Bible somewhere, but it turns out it was just fabrication. Coming from that background, I'm sure you would want to make sure that doesn't happen to you again. May I make a suggestion to help with the search for truth. Nearly every community has at least one small synagogue or gathering place. If not in your community, then almost certainally nearby. Why not call up a local Rabbi and share these things you've seen on the internet? Ask him if he could walk you through this as you genuinely want to understand and have accurate knowledge. I have no doubt that he would be happy to sit down with you with the Talmud and talk through some of the charges that are out there on the internet. You might be surprised to find out that some of the sources you are accessing are worse than Adventistism when it comes to promulgating untruths either by twisting of context and meaning or by just making stuff up out of whole cloth (including discredited/non-existing quotes and even made up/non-existing Talmudic books). Knowing that which corresponds with reality is important. Surely it is worth a few minutes talking with a Rabbi who understands the Talmud and looking at an actual real Talmud. I'm not saying this out of any particular desire to defend the Talmud as I don't accept it as an inspired text, don't know a ton about it, and am sure there are probably things in it I wouldn't agree with. However, what I do know is that anti-semitism is an ugly thing, it's rampant on the internet, it's propped up by a lot of lies and fabrications (including fabricated information on the Talmud), and it needs to be opposed. I think well intentioned people can avoid going down these kinds of rabbit holes simply by spending some time talking with a well informed Jewish person who can address some of the garbage that's out there. Reality matters. Truth matters. | ||

Chris Thanks for your response. I need time to digest & respond adequately..however can anyone tell me what this sites opinion of ZIONISM & ISRAEL is considering the Bible refers to "those who say they are Jews.... & the SYNAGOGUE OF SATAN". Also I would like to hear from anyone who knows more about the Talmud. Thanks | ||
