Me again!

So in a recent fb discussion I had with an SDA, she was vigorously defending Ellen White and her writings, but then ended a post with "Sola Scriptura".

Then I caught "Sola Scriptura" on the main SDA web site.

Is this a new thing and do they know what Sola Scriptura actually means and where it came from? Is it a sneaky way to appear mainstream?

Thoughts?

Adventists have 25 million words of extra-biblical, man-made canonical tradition that is equal to scripture, written by their only recognize prophetess.

Whatever else that is, it is NOT "Sola Scriptura."

I had to laugh, Larry! Indeed, this woman was so confused as to what was scripture and what was Ellen White. Not only that, but Sola Scriptura comes from people who definitely did NOT keep Sabbath.

What the what?!

I know from my personal experience that when they try to examine what they believe, they come in conflict with what they already learn and then or leave SDA or just convict themselves that they didn't understand it properly.

Grace Alone,

Ellen flatly lied about why the Protestant Reformers rejected Saturdarianism. Calvin, Luther, Zwingli and Tyndale all left detailed reasoning - in writing - why they rejected this Judaizing heresy. They all claimed it was the RESULT of Sola Scriptura.

Ellen claimed that these brave reformers caved to Papal authority and man-made tradition in adopting assembling on Sunday. The Reformers claimed it was straight from scripture.

We are presently preparing a new chapter for "Lying for God" that will be written by a woman from Serbia, who has a master's degree in Greek. When you understand the profundity to John's use of the phrase "The Lord's Day" in Revelation 1:10, you will be acutely aware of why the Protestant Reformers rejected Saturdarianism.

This woman from Serbia is writing the aforementioned chapter, thanks for introducing me to the community, Larry!

Regarding the Sola Scriptura issue... Well, I'll tell you what I did once in that situation (trying to prove an Adventist that they don't apply Sola Scriptura system at all):

I asked him: Read Acts 20:7. What day did apostle Luke mention? First day of the week, right?

Now, prove me it's Saturday, but use no other source, only the Bible. No, you cannot use history or other authors or scholars as sources! No, not even prophets (except biblical)... Now? When will you start?

And that's how they give up on proving that they apply Sola Scriptura system...

Regards from Serbia and God bless!

"This woman from Serbia is writing the aforementioned chapter, thanks for introducing me to the community, Larry!"

LOL.....I didn't even know that you were a member here, so I was hesitant to mention your name without your permission.

But hey, everyone! Say hello to "Irina from Serbia!"

Has a ring to it, doesn't it?

@Polgarahh

in your discussion about Acts 20:7, what did that person respond? The SDA position is to argue that it was a Saturday night (= the beginning of the first day) and it prolonged to midnight. They'd use the Genesis account to argue that the first day is Sunday and that days start in the evening.

I'd be interested in your counterargument to that. I've sometimes gotten tired of argueing with SDAs. Some of them really struggle to admit that they have poor arguments.

@Polgarahh I am from Serbia too. Do you mind contacting me? I would like to know some SDA from Serbia. I was SDA for 15 years.

@ Milan

Sure! You can contact me via my Facebook profile. Just search for "Irina Hinrihs" (use CYRILLIC letters) from Niš. In case of doubt, look for the description "technical translator at DaimlerChrysler".

Looking forward to hearing from you again!
