This could be a long post. A little over a year ago I spoke with the Youth Pastor at my Calvary Chapel here in Klamath Falls Oregon about the importance of Apologetics and Worldviews. He, and all the other Pastors knew that I was a Former SDA PK who had grown up in a false worldview. That these things were and are of extreme importance. I volunteered to speak on the differences between the SDA worldview and the Christian Worldview. About 4 months after that Pastor Aaron talked with me in his office and said that he would love me to to a two part series on the Differences Between the SDA and Biblical Worldviews. He has been doing a lot of Apologetics with the youth group and through they would be fascinated to hear my story. Over Christmas break I knuckled down and wrote the two sermons. Answering Adventism and Elce's 3 Volumes on Adventism were great helps. For the first sermon I will be focusing on the Foundations of Adventism, Ellen G, White and comparing what she taught to the Word of God. I will briefly touch on the Investigative Judgment, and refute it with scripture- pointing out the Believer will only partake in the Bema Seat Judgment a Judgment of Commendation and not Condemnation. The second Sermon is half the story of growing up and SDA PK and being Born Again. Along with refuting many more unbiblical SDA teachings. Warnings about different brands of SDA church including Neoadventism. I'll talk about Cognitive Dissonance which cropped up when I was almost Born Again yet clinging tightly to Adventist beliefs. How the Devil tried to use that cognitive dissonance to get me to give up and take my own life...and God turned that moment to His glory by- by saving my soul forever. I compare the SDA Gospel with the True Gospel and briefly discuss the 3 Angels Message "Gospel". Talk about the Time of Troubles. Talk about how even in Neo-Adventism it is still about Vindicating God in some form. On the Lightbearers About page it states that their mission is: To Vindicate the Beauty of God's Character. I then compare the Biblical Worldview with the Great Controversy Worldview. Talk about what kind of Adventist church our local church is. I talk about FAF, the late Dale Ratzlaff, and other helpful resources to find out more about Adventism. Closing with the reveal that in the end God not only saved me, but after decades of intercessory prayer, saved my Dad who went to be with the Lord in 2015. Anyhow, I'd appreciate prayers that I would speak clearly and succinctly. I am thankful that all of our church Pastors have read both sermons and have not asked me to change a single element. And have told me that the sermons have helped them to better understand the dangers of Adventism. As soon as I know when I will be speaking, I will be sure to post follow ups as I get closer. After I preach I will make both word docs of the sermons available for download. To God be the glory! |
