Who'd a thought? What's he renowned for?

http://walterveith.org/ has a list of his upcoming lecture topics (and the 'renowned' label after his name). If this much initiative could be turned to the gospel instead of a counterfeit . . .

Oh, Mary--it's just sorta sickening. Right with you on the observation re: initiative and the gospel...

It reminds me of all the evangelistic brochures I've seen over the years sent out by SDA evangelists: "world traveller and lecturer", etc. Its a feeble attempt to gain credibility. Its simply slick salesmanship and makes me sick.

It is akin to false advertising - very misleading. Can you imagine Jesus using this kind of marketing strategy?

Hey, I'm a world traveler and lecturer. I've visited several countries and I have preached uncounted times. So I qualify.

Ah, but they've now taken it to a new level. The question now is Hec, are you world renowned? :-)

How about just saying 'internationally known' - which would fit pretty much any of us since we're on a world wide forum! :-)

Of course I am world renowned. I live in the world and I'm known in several parts of the world. so taking the part for the whole, I am world renowned.

so I qualify.

Here is a good definition:

'World renowned' means: 'famous throughout the world'.

That means you should be able to go anywhere in the world, stop and ask any person on the street and expect most to know who Walter Veith is.

Now, here in Allyn, Washington I had never heard of the guy prior to joining this forum and I am fairly sure you can ask most anybody else here and all you will get is a blank stare.

On the other hand, if you asked for Phil Harris, they might say; "He's at work right now but if you wait a few minutes he will be here for his ice cream." If it's late in the day, they will give directions to my house with the admonition that it is safe to get out of the car as Hooch would never bite anyone, not even the Fed Ex guy.

By Hec's definition, I must be world renowned to.

I have been saying on this forum this guy is a problem. I believe his message is exerting more influence than egw in the church today. His stuff needs to be studied and refuted.

Freedom, you'll need to ask the SDA organization when they are sending me your way, because I only qualify using SDA definitions.

I agree, Cordurb. I spent many Sabbath afternoons at Adventist homes watching the videos. They are comprehensive and convincing. It's Adventist theology, eschatology and life style in a nutshell. One of his DVD's on music was even shown as the morning sermon. Bying the whole set (for several hundred dollars if I remember right) was considered a very good thing to do considering the times we were living in - and that was three or four years ago. I can only imagine the Sabbath afternoon banter now.

adventists are in their own world....so as far as their world is concerned, he is "world renowned". Outside of adventist circles he is not recognizable.

Bb,

Very true. I'd say the same is true for Ellen White, too. Very, very few people have ever heard of her, outside of Adventist circles. Thank
goodness for that!

Phil you had to go and burst my bubble with using a dictionary. I was going to use Mary &Hec's definition and say I'm world renown too :-)

If it's any comfort many within the sda church don't buy his stuff either. some are quick to point out his doctorate is not in science. Nevertheless the are far too many devotees

Cordurb,

In order to review what is on these videos one would have to view them. As near as I can tell there are at least sixty videos that appear to run over an hour each. Viewing them online would take, at least 100 hours, but when you count on all the pauses to make notes, it would take far longer.

Just who has the time to invest this much effort?

Back when I was being led out of Adventism, my bible teachers knew very little about the false doctrines of the Adventist. But, they knew how to confront what is false by knowing the truth. And, they did it by sitting down beside me and working with me directly.

Knowing who Walter Veith is is important. Getting bogged down with the multitude of his videos would be a quagmire most of us don't have the time for.

I have to laugh . . . around here, the term "with international flair" means the speaker's been to Tijuana.

Fearless Phil,

the only way I know how to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.

It seems that part of the purpose of this forum is an outreach to Adventists to help them understand and discern truth. Maybe understanding vieths lies will help save some stuck in the cult of adventism.

Think bigger, fearless one.

Cordurb--perhaps refuting the core claims will help. I know there are quite a few things currently available that do address the core claims of Adventism.

Do you feel able to write some Vieth refutations? If so, let us know...I think there are some ways we could share them online!

This man, Walter Veith is a South-African professor of zoology. He has worked at Heidelberg College I think. I have heard him on several occations in Norway where he wisited some years ago. He is very good in teaching about e.g creation, the flood, health, conspiracy (!) and other topics. Theologically he is conservative, historical sda. I do not know if he is known in America, he is alt least known to some in Europe.
