Hi, I know there are heaps of Former Adventists here Down Under, but have not heard of any support meetings or networks. Is there anyone doing anything or any interest in organising something? My husband and I left the SDA church in June last year. The transition has been made a little easier by having family members who have gone before us, but it is a culture shock and there are still issues we need to work through. Would love to network with others. | ||

Savedbygrace, About all I can do for you is say; "Welcome to the forum" and lift you in prayer, me being located in the Pacific NW of the United States. We share the same ocean but the distance is great. About all I know for sure is that your seasons are reversed from us and you must be about 19 or 20 time zones ahead which makes it late in the evening for you. Many years ago when I left the SDA church there were no such thing as support groups so I know what it is to feel alone and knowing the need for some kind of support or understanding from those who have traveling this path you are on. Certainly, a local bible center fellowship is vital. In the mean time we are a world wide forum and exist to be as much support as possible. Thank-you Jrossb and Jdpascal! I wish I'd taken a hard look at what Adventism like you did Jrossb and asked the hard questions. I just assumed that Adventism was true, back when I was SDA and thought I simply didn't understand certain texts in the Bible. In one case where the Bible says: "you HAVE BEEN saved" (Ephesians 2:8,9) versus the fact that Ellen White says NO ONE should say they are saved - I simply took both the Bible and her metaphorically and achieved a sort of shaky middle position that didn't give any lasting assurance of salvation. | ||

Thanks for your welcome. I am in Tasmania. I will share my story soon, but with three littlies and school holidays I haven't much time to myself! Feeling a burden on my heart for so many adventist and former adventist friends and also am in contact with two "contacts" of the local Adventist church. Was wondering if there was any interest out there in having something similar to the FAF weekend in Aus. |
