1john; God can heal a person of ANYTHING, even horrible abuse by trusted father-figures. I read a testimony about someone who became a Christian. She didn't say that she'd been abused, but she did say that she was afraid of God and was reaching out to a "goddess" figure. One evening as she was about to give her soul to the "goddess," she heard a voice - not the "goddess" that she expected, but to her shock, she heard the Holy Spirit. He said "Will you listen if I talk to you?" and she listened and found out that her "goddess" was the dragon of Revelation. She gave her life to Jesus and was saved!

Here's her story. It's on the "Precious Christian Testimonies" website. Her story is called: "Divine Mother-Goddess or Deceived?"

Seekr777,
Your message warmed my heart with its love!
Love draws us in.
Your voice is important here.
NOT negating anyone else!!

PS Diana, I am female <giggle> J9 is shorthand for my middle name Jeanine - which my dad used to pronounce that way for fun. It is awesome that our great God used SDA treatment to reach me. At that point I would not have trusted any other place/program/people. Whew! Thank You ABBA! And my problem was relationships that don't work - codependency & major depression at that point. Plus I had MAJOR anger at GOD - really RELIGION.

Sorry Jeanine for the mistake. I am so glad God did get ahold of you, my SISTER in Christ.
God used the 12 step program and almost 30 years of deprogrammming me to finally get a hold of me.
I have an eating dissorder and a problem reading written pornography. God has taken them away, not all at once. What he has done with me is peel the onion layers back one at a time. Each time a layer comes off I see where I need to own something and ask God to remove it. It will be a life long process.
The sda religion had a large section of my 4th step inventory, in CR, with much anger towards God. I am so glad God has large shoulders and can take my anger. Thank you awesome God.

I have to tell you of a friend in CR, here at my church. He had lost his license b/c of DUIs in CA. After going through all the 12 steps, in CR, and making amends he went back to CA to make amends there. He thought he would end up in jail. When he went to court the judge read all he had about my friend. Then he asked him to recite steps 1, 2, and 3 of AA. My friend repeated the 3 steps and the judge dismissed everything. My friend got his license back and can now drive legally in CA and NV.
God does work miracles. Thank you awesome God.

Asurprise,
Interesting testimony. It just goes to show that God can reach us wherever we are, just as He rescued me & brought me to Him in an SDA treatment center.

We can TRUST HIM.
ALL things are possible with Him.
Nothing is impossible for Him.

You may all have read it already, but I think this thread is the right place to link to Richard Peifer's article in this Proclamation, "Who Are You? Really?"

Read it here: http://www.lifeassuranceministries.org/proclamation/2010/2/whoareyoureally.html

That was such a caring testimony! God indeed uses our voices and our warm arms to reach hurting people with His love! I recall part of an old poem that starts with the line, "You are the only Bible a careless world may read." And indeed, God uses us and our love to touch people's hearts, to introduce them to Him.

Great article, maybe the truth is in mid. We often not recognise that Word of God, Religion, faith, doctrines are not similar things. It is time to worship Bible as Word of God, but in same time not give our support for religion. It is not us that we have Jesus but Jesus is life - giving for us.
