Hi Dawn,

I need to remain anonymous online for a little while longer. It's a long involved story. Could you ask Colleen for my e-mail address? I'll e-mail you where I am and we can talk - OK?

For the record. I was born in Battle Creek with ancestors that knew EGW personally. Adventism has deep roots in my family on my mother's side but we were not adventists until sixth or seventh grade. I spent my academy years at Grand Ledge Academy but knew a lot of people from Adelphian, Cedar Lake and a few from Battle Creek.

Colleen and River, since you mentioned God bringing formers into your path...at church last week we had a missionary speak (one of many the church I attend supports) and it turns out he is a former SDA. As we talked with him afterwards he told us some SDA members told him they saw a light shining around him and that he should come back to the SDA church and preach there.

Peperpat, Did the SDA mean he should go back to adventism and then preach, or that he should just preach at their church?
It is always interesting when we meet formers unexpectedly.

I am convinced by what Christ said is true . . . "Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened."

For many of us, we sought out truth and we found it. We saw doors before us and knocked on them. Because we made our faith active, because of the Holy Spirit's nudge to have us not settle with the "I don't knows" of Adventism, the truth was found. It can still be found. I'm convinced that if people really strive to live their lives for God, long to know Him more and seek after His heart, they will discover the unique and awesome identity of who God is.

I thank the Lord for His faithfulness in whispering to me during my days within the Adventist Church. It was hard and I didn't want to listen. Many times I wanted to throw down God's Word and just give in rather than fight.

The truth will set them free. It set us free and gave God glory! That's the whole point anyway - His glory!! :-)

Diana, the missionary said the SDA members wanted him to return to SDAism and preach for them (he is a gifted speaker). I also learned our pastor has a family member married to an SDA who recently died. At the funeral his SDA grandchildren said some day they will see grandpa again but will not recognize him (?)

I love that quote too Daisie girl, and I admire and pray for every one of you who seeks the truth.God never dissapoints!

So true, Daisie! God will glorify Himself, and He will reveal truth to those who desire it.

Wolfgang

I grew up SDA in Michigan, and know a few kids from Andrews, Grand Ledge, Cedar Lake, and Au Sable.

Do you mind if I contact you?

When I gave my testimony at church I related how being SDA was just "me" I could not imagine not being SDA anymore than I could imagine being Jamaican

Michigan holds a special place in my heart. I go back as often as I can as I have friends and family there. Detroit is where I heard the gospel thanks to Christian radio and a series of God ordained events. I had cousins who went to Cedar Lake academy and of course Andrews and I was down in Berrien Springs fairly often.

Hi Surfy,

We are planning to attend. We just love these weekends.

I hope you don’t mind if I just say how much it has meant to me to be at peace with God. I say this without boasting, but I feel like I won the “big one” in life. I can truly say that the despair I felt for so many years has been replaced by peace and rest and actual joy.

This never happened before.

I like it.
