I was googling "Ellen White and labor unions", and of course several sites came up, one being the Truth or Fables site. But underneath the heading that came up for the labor union topic, it said "This site may harm your computer". Has anyone else seen this? I don't want to visit the site now. I've just never seen this on a link to a site before.

Also, my other laptop just kind of crashed and burned about 6 weeks ago. I'm not sure if I had been on there or not. If I was, I probably linked over there from another place and would not have seen the warning.

Just wondering if anyone knew more about this.

Thanks

I just found the same warning. I'm emailing the website owner to alert him. I'm guessing this is some third-party trash.

The warning was posted by the Goggle Search Engine. If you use another search engine, there is no warning. Since I have good virus protection, I used Dogpile to link to the website and nothing bad happened.

Why the warning by Goggle I don't know but it sure looks like 'funny business' to me.

I tried through yahoo search and through Google and got a warning both times.

Just got a reply from Robert Sanders. He hopes to have things corrected by tomorrow. Truth or Fables does not have a virus, but there are issues with his web service provider.

Thanks for your replies. I thought about "funny business" too, but I'm pretty basic in my computer skills and not sure what all can be done.

Let us know what you hear from your e-mail, Helovesme2.

Robert Sanders contacted me yesterday and I am working with Robert on his site. There is noting harmful in his web pages. I can assure you of that. He is 78 and not all that computer literate, but has put his heart and soul behind exposing the cultic doctrines of Adventism for what they are.

I suspect that Google has implemented some new page checking that looks at a page to see if it follows generally accepted HTML standards. Robert doesn't know HTML. He is not a web programmer. He does everything through Microsoft Word and Microsoft FrontPage 2000 with Microsoft's proprietary "Front Page" extensions to manage themes, etc.

As any of you know who maintin web pages, Microsoft Word is about the worse thing that a person can use to produce web pages because it loads up the web page with all kinds of "proprietary garbage formatting tags". Other high quality GUI web editors such as DreamWeaver even have a function where you can take the code from a Word web page and "clean" it of all the offending Microsoft junk that Word puts in it. The reason that Microsoft puts all the extra XML into the web page is so that theoretically you can load a Microsoft web page back into Word and keep all the special formatting, etc.

Microsoft FrontPage is almost as bad. It puts all kinds of proprietary commenting for theme tags, extra meta tags, and more garbage that is enough to confuse any web page search robot that is doing anything more than just looking for text. Microsoft Front Page doesn't include standard DOCTYPE headings and other valuable information that tells a web consumer how to render the page.

I am assisting Robert in moving to a standard web editor and away from from page. By using PHP "includes" we can easily supply the side menu, header and footer on each page with no need for Microsoft's proprietary theme and menu management. Unfortunately this is a difficult time for me to clean all of his pages and get his website converted over quickly because I am covered up with my own professional work. I will try to help him as fast as I can. Last night I got his site to "verify" with Google and took care of other technical details. When we are done all of his pages need to validate for well-formed XHTML. I explained to him that it had nothing to do with his hosting provider and switching providers won't change a thing. The problem is caused by all the bogus junk that Microsoft Word puts in, and then he pastes that into Microsoft FrontPage, which compounds the problem.

Imagine that your father is 78 and maintaining a website like Robert Sanders is. That is a major accomplishment for someone that did not grow up on computers. I can assure you that there is no malware on his site. I have a copy of it and am cleaning all of the Microsoft Word junk out of it as quickly as I can but it is going to take a few days to cycle through the process and tell Google to validate his site again.

Gilbert

Thanks for the update Gilbert. Mr. Sanders has done an amazing amount of work on that site. I'm glad you are able to get the code cleaned up for him!

Praise the Lord for Robert Sanders and Gilbert Jorgensen! That's all I have to say!

Truthorfables.com and ellenwhite .org (now ellenwhiteexposed.com) played a major role in my learning the truth about Seventh-day Adventism. God is using the Internet!

This has been a real interesting one. Yesterday evening I took out all the FrontPage extension stuff on Robert's website and got him set up for PHP support. That way he can use the industry-standard "PHP includes" for maintaining one header, footer and side-menu file, and still not need to be a web page programmer. I've given him an alternative website editor so he no longer needs to use the FrontPage Extensions on his website. (By the way, I have both Microsoft FrontPage and Adobe/Macromedia DreamWeaver. I just will NEVER use the "FrontPage Extensions" on any website that I have.)

Now to Google's message --

Without getting into the specifics (because we sure don't want FAF to somehow get falsely tagged by Google in a similar manner due to any links posted here) I followed up with Google on why the message was being generated in the first place on their search listing page.

Part of their response states:

Has this site acted as an intermediary resulting in further distribution of malware?

Over the past 90 days, truthorfables.com did not appear to function as an intermediary for the infection of any sites.

Has this site hosted malware?

No, this site has not hosted malicious software over the past 90 days.

The first portion of the message has a section What happened when Google visited this site? where it lists three website URLs that have absolutely nothing to do with TruthOrFables.com. It makes no sense. I have personally gone through Robert's site. There is nothing of this nature on his site. His site has no links to these other three sites that are listed. This sort of logic could just as easily apply to "adventist.org". I personally think that Google's process is where the error lies. You can imagine how baffling this would be for someone like Robert who is 78.

In any event, I am committed to getting the Google problem with Robert's site totally resolved as fast as Google's resolution process works. In the mean time, you can safely visit it.

Looks like TruthOrFables.com is now off the bad list. :-)
