MY SECURITY IS FOUND IN JESUS

Someone in the member section asked if this could be posted in the General Section. These concepts are taken from Neil T. Anderson's material.

Let yourself “soak” in the words of your security in Christ. Feel free to read over and over some of the words of your emancipation .

1.) I am free forever from punishment

Now, because of this, those who belong to Christ will not suffer the punishment of sin. The power of the Holy Spirit has made me free from the power of sin and death. This power is mine because I belong to Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1-2; New Life Version)

2.) I cannot be separated from the love of God

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39; New Living Translation)

3.) I am safe because I am hidden with Christ in God.

Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. (Col. 3:3; Message Bible)

4.) I am a citizen of heaven with the rest of God’s family.

Now you who are not Jewish are not foreigners or strangers any longer, but are citizens together with God’s holy people. You belong to God’s family. (Eph. 2:19; New Century Version)

5.) I can find grace and mercy in times of need.

So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. There we will be treated with undeserved kindness, and we will find help. (Heb. 4:16; Contemporary English Version)

6.) I am secure in Christ and the evil one cannot touch me.

We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them. (1 John 5:18; New Living Translation)

Bask in the reality of God’s protection and love for you. Like a person in a jacuzzi - soak in the knowledge of your security in Christ.

Thank you, Keri. These are wonderful facts. It is amazing to know we are members of God's family!

Speaking of security, I just got a report from a friend in Riverside, CA that you all down there just had an earthquake, even if only a small one.

Ready for the "big one"?

I will have to call my family in Riverside and ask about that earthquake. I have 3 sisters there and 1 brother.
God tells me He will never leave me or forsake me in Heb 13. He will take care of me through whatever happens.

LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED

WHENEVER I AM TROUBLED
AND LOST IN DEEP DESPAIR
I BUNDLE ALL MY TROUBLES UP
AND GO TO GOD IN PRAYER...

I TELL HIM I AM HEARTSICK
AND LOST AND LONELY, TOO,
THAT MY MIND IS DEEPLY BURDENED
AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO...

BUT I KNOW HE STILLED THE TEMPEST
AND CALMED THE ANGRY SEA
AND I HUMBLY ASK IF IN HIS LOVE
HE'LL DO THE SAME FOR ME...

AND THEN I JUST KEEP QUIET
AND THINK ONLY THOUGHTS OF PEACE
AND IF I ABIDE IN STILLNESS
MY "RESTLESS MURMURINGS" CEASE.

How CAN an Adventist have security???

They have to make it through the investigative judgment and then they have to make sure all their sins are confessed.

My "theology" was a little easier than many, when I was a Seventh-day Adventist. All I thought I had to do was just pray "forgive me all my sins." (Which were past sins, of course. It never occurred to me that ALL sins are forgiven to a person who completely accepts Jesus' sacrifice - I mean COMPLETELY ACCEPTS His sacrifice for their sins. I couldn't do that since Ellen White said that a person should never say that they are saved, so I couldn't put my weight down on His finished work; despite Ephesians 2:8,9; Hebrews 10:14; 2nd Tim. 1:9; Titus 3:5)

Of course, I hoped that if I ever died, that I'd have a chance to ask forgiveness right before that happened. So --- no security.

When a person puts their weight down on Jesus' sacrifice - oh, what an amazing relief! THEN they have security!!! :-)

The SDA's are already using the earthquake experience to promote the rightness of SDA doctrine. How come it never seems to matter what the Bible actually says? It only seems to matter about some miraculous thing, or someone was especially protected, and it's usually over the Sabbath or some unique SDA teaching. Just got this email forwarded tonight:

quote:

THIS IS FROM LINDA CAVINESS. SHE WROTE ABOUT AN EXPERIENCE LAST NIGHT IN LA.

All during the month of May we have been having an evangelistic series in the Shrine Auditorium in downtown L.A. Last night and tonight were on the Sabbath. Shawn Boonstra, the It Is Written speaker, who is doing the series, kept saying all week that we need to pray specifically for these 2 nights because the Devil always tries to disrupt.

The Shrine Auditorium is where the movie stars do the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) awards, but we have the site rented for these meetings. Tonight as Shawn drew the meeting to a close, he asked all who wanted to commit themselves to allegiance to Christ to please stand up. As soon as we all stood (there were 2,000 present and most of them were non-SDAs), a sizeable earthquake began. The timing was perfect! The building was shaking and everyone just stood there. Immediately, Charles Haugabrooks and the female singer asked everyone to sing with them. Hands went high into the air in praise to God for sparing us all. And the audience just kept wanting to sing and praise God. It was amazing! On the news tonight, this earthquake has dominated. Everyone keeps calling in and saying, "I can't believe this was just 4.7 on the Richter. I was in the Northridge quake, and this was equally as bad, yet we don't have all the damage the way we did then."

It was quite a happening. It made me think about what it must have been like when Christ died, and the earth shook. This time, it seemed God was saying to everyone--I am He who controls all, and I want my children to recognize my authority and my love for them. Everyone left the auditorium praising God and deeply moved by what happened--spiritually and physically. What an experience!

Linda

So are they expecting someone to think that the SDA's must be right after all because the topic was the Sabbath, people were accepting it, the earthquake happened at a perfect timing and God kept anyone from getting hurt?

Do you know who Linda Caviness is? She is the wife of the president of one of the S. CA. S.D.A. conferences. I know her. I know him. I have stayed in their home and gone out to eat with them. I won't go into detail ...

Are you sure this is her that is writing? ...

I guess I shouldn't doubt it ... those that have the veil over their heart ...

Sorry, just hits home when you know the people and they are people you've admired and loved ...

As far as I can tell it is Linda Caviness writing. I cut off the e-mail paste to not include the ending that had her name, title, address, office and direct phone numbers, and e-mail address because I thought all of that didn't belong here.

I wonder if any of them examined their shorts after they left the place.

I'll bet washing machine were going full blast the rest of the night.

Fact is I heard L.A. had a sudden drop in water pressure. Well...maybe not but it sure sets off my imagination.

Raven,
Sorry, just a little question. I agree with you in not putting the contact information here. But was her title [Dr.] Linda Caviness and does any of it indicate that she is a professor at LLU or the other college in that area?

Just curious,
Keri

P.S. Guess it just hurts to realize/remember there are still those caught in chains.

Sigh. Even the antichrist will come with signs and wonders. Signs and wonders are not proof of anything.

The earthquake was, as reported, 4.7. Of course it felt strong to those who were near the epicenter, but it was nothing like the Northridge quake. That quake was very strong even in the Inland Empire where we live. Sunday's quake was barely discernible to us. We felt a tiny bit, but for sure it was no Northridge quake.

It's interesting that in the Bible the earth shook when Christ died at the cross not when He instituted the Sabbath. So why now is the earth shaking when the Sabbath is preached and not the cross??!!!

Translation to English: As a bunch of people stood to give their hearts, not to Jesus, but to Ellen G. White and the Seventh-day Adventist denomination, God forcibly replied, "SIT BACK DOWN!!!"

Jrt, the title is Professor, School of Education, La Sierra University and she's a PhD.

Bskillet, loved your description of the other interpretation! I had actually thought the same thing when I read it, if the timing meant anything, couldn't God just as easily (or more likely) have been expressing alarm at accepting a different Gospel.

Thanks, Raven. It is the person I was thinking of.

Brent - I got a good chuckle from your post, too.
