I have a few questions.
Is there going to be a "time of trouble" that is anything close to the sda version?

If there is going to be one but not like the sda one, then how will it be?

What will bring it about if not the "Sabbath test"? Is it economic or spiritual or both?

This is one area I haven't given any thought to since leaving the church and would like to know what ya'll think it is all about.

For current information about Christians' times of trouble happening right now, please visit www.vom.org or www.persecution.com. The persecution happening right now has nothing to do with the sabbath. The SDAs have end time events all wrong. The issue is Jesus Christ, not the sabbath.

Jesus is our Sabbath.

So does that make the SDA version right after all? :-)

They got the 'word' right but missed the meaning - again!

Ok, thanks for the links. I have read a lot about this persecution and never thought of this as the "time of trouble" though it certainly is a time of trouble for all of those involved.

So is there NOT going to be a global, all at once, persecution of Christians? Is it this, an ongoing thing that has basically been happening since the beginning, only intensified?

One thing never focused on by end time catastrophists, is that in any given time period there are people suffering beyond imagination. Suffering in war, political persecution, religious persecution( I heard once that up to 200,000 christians a year are martred), suffering health (I have been so sick before that I don't know how I could have endured anything worse),terrible, terrible emotional pain, hunger, starvation, abject poverty. Their are people right now who need Gods mercy, and our mercy. I always thought that focusing on times of trouble was a way to neglect the situations at hand. I spent years having contingencies planned for times of trouble, and looking back on them , they were all about me.

I still make choices for the provisions for me and my family, and others, but I am no longer driven by fear, and I would not want to be the only one in comfort during a catastrophy.

Just my thoughts on the end times.

Chris

I really do not think of end time events. God says in Heb 13:5 that He will never leave us or forsake us. I trust God, so whatever may happen to me I know God is there beside me. I may cry and rant, but He is there all the time.

I agree with Diana, I don't even think about it its something used by the SDA Church to keep the believers glued to the SDA Church sits only and this is done out of ignorance because EGW said so, told someone who told someone, who told someone ......and along the way EGW gets out of the picture
But whatever is out there or is to come related to this (persecution)I think the focus should be getting rooted on a firm foundation in Christ and knowing what one stands for come rain come shine at least we know who is the winner at the end and that gives me great courage to stand firm and not be afraid or worried about tomorrow.

It sounds to me like it is going to be worldwide, because of what it says in Revelation about the "mark of the beast." I think the "mark of the beast" will have something to do with Islam though. (Ellen White certainly didn't predict the threat of Islam!)

But like Diana says; God will never leave us or forsake us. :-)

Thanks for the input. Just to clarify, this question is not out of fear. Instead, I am asking to find out if this whole "time of trouble" thing is all made up or if the sda just have a twisted view on an actual event that will come in the future. I could care less what is coming or not coming because like Bob says, we know who wins. However, as a point of knowledge, I would like to know if someday something called a "time of trouble" will or will not happen globally. If nobody knows then that's cool too. If that is the case then maybe someone can comment on Daniel 12:1 so that when I read it I know what it is talking about.
Thanks in Advance

AK, the helps in my NKJV on Daniel 12:1 says "At that time" refers to the "time of the end" (11:40), the end of the evil king (11:36) at the Second Coming of Christ (11:45). A time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation refers to the period of tribulation just prior to the coming of Christ. Those who shall be delivered are those whose names are written in the book of life. God's record of those who have been justified by faith (see Ex 32:32, Ps 69:28, Luke 10:20, Rev 20:12).
As for the time of trouble happening globally, I do not know. One thing I do know and that is that God will never leave us or forsake us Heb 13:5 and Jesus told us in Matt 28 He will be with us until the end of the age. I hang onto that and trust Him one day at a time.

Akweavers, both the OT and the NT, especially Revelation and 2 Thessalonians, speak of a great tribulation near the end of the age. It does not look like the SDA time of trouble, though, in that the purpose is different and God actually pours His own wrath and judgment out on the world.

He has promised, however, that He will guard and keep His own, and He has also promised that His church—those who are born of the Spirit—are not destined for His wrath.

There are many different understandings of how the end will play out, but we can be totally confident that God keeps His promises, and we will not be running to the mountains in fear. Whatever happens, we will be secure in Him.

Our lives are hidden with Christ in God.

During the flood, God provide an ark of safety for his chosen faithful. He will also keep His children safe during any time of trouble. What more do we need ,but Jesus !!!

Animal

P.S....Animal believes this time of trouble will be a global crisis as has never been experienced before. But God has already gotten us the victory !!!!!
