Last Saturday I was fortunate to be in Davenport, WA with my adventist wife and got to hear the sermon of this man.

His message was that Christians who don't keep the law are hypcrites.

After church I told him I thought it was a poor decision to judge other Christians just because they don't agree with you and he might want to read Romans 7 and Galations 4:4-5.

Does anyone know this man? He was a rather confident individual.

Never heard of him, but I think the best way to deal with these kinds of people is to ask him if he was ritually circumcised the eighth day, or if he wears tassels on the edges of his garments, or if he mixes fabrics in his clothing, or...

"His message was that Christians who don't keep the law are hypcrites."

Well...I guess ALL christians are hypocrites. I have never met any christian who has "kept" ALL 617 laws. Scripture teaches if we are one with Christ we walk by the Spirit, not according to the Law. God has set us free !!!

You know the sad part is this guy is soooo busy trying to keep the law that he is missing out on the joy of meeting and really getting to know our Lord Jesus Christ. I don't mind being a hypcrite in his eyes as I like walking and talking with Jesus everyday not just one day a week.

Clinton Schultz is a hypocrite if he both claims to believe in the Cross of Jesus Christ, and denies that the Law was meant to lead us there.

While I was reading this thread, a couple Jehovah's Witnesses came to the door. I found that some of the things they believe are similar to Adventism, such as believing that when people die, they don't know anything anymore. I think that they also believe that God isn't working with the nation of Israel anymore but that the Jehovah's Witnesses have replaced Israel. Adventists believe that too, only they think that Seventh-day Adventism has replaced Israel. They turn a blind eye to God's obvious work in bringing Israel back and preserving that nation. Anyway, sorry to get the thread off track. I'll get it back on...

Works. They also believe in doing works. The difference between a Christian and a JW or SDA is that the Christian is RESTING in Jesus. He/she is filled with the Holy Spirit Who is doing the working, so it's not the believer; it's the Spirit doing the works.

If Clinton Schultz had been addressing a group of Christians, he might as well have said that a leopard who doesn't have spots is a hypocrite. It would make about as much sense. But to SDAs, Catholics, JWs, Muslims, etc. that would make a lot of sense. People would be nodding wisely to themselves, thinking: "I gotta do better." They don't realize how utterly DISGUSTING their sin is to God. They don't realize how utterly helpless they are and how holy, God is.

Only those people who have His Spirit will be saved. Romans 8:9

Bb,

Thanks for the video. Good stuff. I was trying to be kind when I called him a "confident individual." I get so frustrated that my wife buys into this. She is back to reading the Ellen White devotionals and her mom continues to push and push, while driving a wedge between us.

Thanks for your responses. God is faithful.

Cordurb, if only she would just read the Bible! As long as she refuses and reads Ellen White, the veil will remain. :-(

Cordurb, before reading the Bible with your wife, pray alone, that God will break the spirit of adventism and send the Holy Spirit to teach you and her. Then before reading the Bible with her ask God to have the Holy Spirit teach you what He wants you to learn.
God is stronger then the spirit of adventism. It has a strong pull on people. I still feel it occasionally, but God has shown me what it is and I pray and God takes it. God loves you and your wife and wants you to be united in Him. He will do it.

About all Christians being hypocrites, I have a video on facebook from my church. It is about reasons for not attending church. One of the reasons is that the church is full of hypocrites. A man responds that there is always room for one more. I like that because I know I am not perfect. Jesus is the only perfect one and He died for me. Thank you awesome God.
Our pastors always say, here it is okay not to be okay. You do not have to stay there.
Praying for you and your wife.

Hi Cordurb! The one thing I hate about missing time on the forum is new people pop up that I missed welcoming! ha. Glad to "meet" you! I completely understand your frustration. I understand why the man is judging Christians because to him, the nature of true obedience is SO obvious. ha. But I'm reminded of the verse that speaks of those who wish to be teachers of the law and have no idea what they are talking about.. that would be sda's for sure. They absolutely do not understand the Law of Moses, or the Sinai Covenant. Actually, many Christians are confused on those points. If this was their only fault... I could excuse the differences. The point at which it becomes non-Christian is when they touch the finished work of Christ and trust in their obedience to keep them saved, a false standard of obedience at that.

Prayers for your situation!

It is so frustrating. For 11.5 years, I walked with God, and desired to lead my family in a way that honored God. Little did I know my mother-in-law was sending 100 plus Walter Vieth videos to my wife. I knew I was in trouble the day my mother-in-law looked me right in the eye and said she knew who the antichrist was without a doubt. I amazed at the SDA disdain for Israel and the Jewish people as much as they love the law.

Cordurb, I know we have mentioned Walter Vieth on this forum before, but I have some relatives who are into his videos too. I just don't want to watch him, so I would like to know this forum's opinion on what he is all about? I think I heard he is into conspiracy things. Is he an offshoot? Is he mainstream? What is the hold he has on people?

There's only one true gospel and many many false gospels and false prophets.

Jesus warned that "many false prophets will rise up." (Matt.24:11) He didn't tell people to watch for the one true prophet to arise in the last days, but there are sure a lot of them!

The apostle Paul warned that even if "an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed." Then he repeated the warning in the next verse. (Galatians 1:8,9)

Funny how Ellen White had an angel that spoke in King James English! :-) In her book "Early Writings" that I keep for reference, she "quotes" an angel (in the chapter called "Mark of the Beast") saying: "Get ready, get ready, get ready. Ye will have to die a greater death to the world than ye have ever yet died."

When I asked a Mormon relative why Joseph Smith's angel spoke in King James English, she said that it was because King James English is a holier language. What?!!!

Why would God send angels speaking in King James English, when during the same time period that so many religions such as SDA and LDS rose up; there was a HUGE revival going on in the United States and overseas, by God's using such men as Spurgeon, Moody, etc. MANY MANY people were being converted!!! Seems to me that the devil would be eager to counteract God's work any way he could!

Bb,

Since my background is mainstream non-denominational, I don't really know where Vieth came from. He is in the same category as Steve Wohlberg to me (he is a converted Jewish man) that professes phyisical Israel is irrelevant, and we are spiritual Israel, and so under the Law. Vieth seems to be another SDA that has to twist the scripture to make it fit what SDA beliefs are. Sorry I am not of more help than this.
