The following was posted on another forum.
I think probably most of us would agree.
Let's talk about additional Biblical support for this concept.

quote:

Only the spiritually dead focus on 'the end'...
...those alive in Christ focus on a new beginning...
...because "...according to his promise we wait for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells." 2 Peter 3:13

Love that statement Pegg! Never looked at it that way.. but so true.

Heb 11:13 These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.
Heb 11:14 For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.
Heb 11:15 If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return.
Heb 11:16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

Rom 8:20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope
Rom 8:21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
Rom 8:22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.
Rom 8:23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
Rom 8:24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?
Rom 8:25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

Rom 15:12 And again Isaiah says, "The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the Gentiles; in him will the Gentiles hope."
Rom 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Tit 2:11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,
Tit 2:12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
Tit 2:13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
Tit 2:14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Last verse... what trains us to renounce ungodliness in this present age?? Did it say... "the grace of God" which has "appeared"? hmmm.... =)

Christ's return Poem
Connie Campbell Bratcher

Christ is coming again in like manner
As the disciples saw Him go.
He's coming for His blood bought ones
Who watch and wait below.
Some would attempt to predict the day,
But no one knows just when,
Not even the angels in heaven,
Much less we mortal men.
Yet, as we discern the signs of the times,
We know His return is nigh;
Our glorious King is coming soon-
With a shout of the archangel on high.
The trumpet shall sound from heaven,
And the dead in Christ shall rise first;
Then those alive in Him shall be caught up-
No more suffering, hunger or thirst.

What a time of rejoicing it will be
When we meet our Lord in the air,
Singing hallelujahs - Glory to God,
Free from all trouble and care.
We mortals shall put on immortality
In the twinkling of an eye,
As we meet The King of Glory-
At that reunion in the sky.
Oh, what a glorious day that will be
When we see His wonderful face....
We'll praise Him throughout eternity
For His mercy and His grace.

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord"
(I Thes. 4:16-17)

Thank you, Pegg, for the topic. And thanks, 8thday, for suppling further Biblical support. I like having that perspective.
