I stumbled across an article today regarding the contempt that Adventists are feeling for those who have left the church to more Grace oriented 'Adventist' churches.
It is possible that you guys have seen this before,(very old article) but I found it somewhat amusing, and I found myself explaining to the author why they weren't identifying with some of the tenets of the Adventist church.
Their gripe was that some of the key elements were left out of these off-shoot's beliefs. Those things are the Investigative judgment, Ellen white the prophet and God's remnant church...
Well, you can see the problem there; these are precisely the things that are wrong with the Adventist Church.
I'll post the link here. I did not read part 2, but part 1... pretty funny, and very ironic.

Oh yes, and I detected some amount of contempt regarding 'Grace'

Yes, the Great Controversy folks are intensely historic. Some of them have shown up when Dale has spoken in various venues. They are argumentative and true-blue "ellenites". They have trouble with anything except the most rigid, "spirit of prophecy"-based Adventism.

I have one thing to say for them; they are more honest than the Adventists who try to say the fundamentals don't apply to them--but they remain anyway.

It's good to see you again, Alnadean!

I have to say, this was quite a read.
What a hoot!

I got a special kick out of him talking about SDA lite, the low-carb version.

He quoted this from EGW, but without reference - Anyone know where it's located? The Estate site freezes up on me 90% of the time.:-(

quote:

“We cannot now step off the foundation that God has established. We cannot now enter into any new organization; for this would mean apostasy from the truth”

According to the White Estate that quote is from Manuscript 129, 1905, cited in Selected Messages, book 2, p. 390.
