I've never put much thought into this..but I get so tired of SDA's pinpointing sabbath-keeping to creation--God gave the 4th commandment to the Isrealites only, (from Noah to Moses there is no mention of sabbath-keeping)the sabbath was a reminder(anniversary) meant for rest, it was to remind them of their days of slavery in Egypt and then deliverence from God!!!The Isrealites were given the physical rest they so needed by deliverence from God. They were slaves. God used sabbath for this purpose and as a reminder of bondage and deliverence promised, not creation. We were given the spiritaul rest promised to believers, by Christ, a more completed rest:-) God and Christ are truly one and alike:-) They know what our needs are, and supply for us:-)

The SDAs aren't the only ones doing this. As I indicated on another thread, the BSf notes for this week say the exact same thing.

The question is, if the Sabbath does not point back to creation, why does the commandment use creation as a starting point? "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy, for in six days, etc."

Well you are correct, but I read an christian article on-line it specified how God told Moses to remember the sabbath rest because they were slaves in Egypt and He delivered them from slavery. From Noah to Moses there is no mention of sabbath-keeping. If sabbath is all about creation, why is there no importance of it until Moses is commanded to keep it by God? I will try to find the website, I know it's in my computer history.

There are several problems with this argument from creation. First, it's a contrived argument that uses hand-picked proof texts to support it while ignoring the context of the covenants and the cross and the books of Hebrews, Romans, and Galatians not to mention Colossians and Ephesians. Second, the renewal of the covenant in Deuteronomy which Moses gave to Israel before the generation born in the desert went into Canaan restates the entire 10 Commandments—but this version says nothing about Creation. It only references the deliverance from Egypt as the reason for Sabbath remembering.

Third, the creation argument never mentions that in the creation story, the seventh day was the only one which was not bounded by "…and the evening and the morning were the __________ day." The creation seventh day had no beginning or ending. God rested--and there was no end to the rest. Moreover, there was no command for humans to rest. Even moreover, that first seventh day was Adam and Eve's second day. They were created into God's finished work.

Now, we are ushered into God's finished work when we place our faith in Jesus and allow His blood to pay for our sin and to wash us clean.

I agree Colleen. The Exodus 20 one shows that God is Creator of everything and Deuteronomy 5 where the 10 Commandments are repeated, it says for Israel to keep the Sabbath because: "...and the Lord your God brought you our from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched are; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day."

Also the Sabbath was to be a sign of the covenant between God and Israel (Exodus 31:13). Gentiles were never given the law (Romans 2:14). Now that Jesus has died and risen, the old covenant is obsolete (Hebrews 8:13). And what was that old covenant? (Deuteronomy 4:13 & Deuteronomy 5:2,3) "So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone."
"The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. The Lord did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive."
