.....about the smallest things in a persons life.
I have signed on to go into the Clark County Jails and Nevada State prisons with CR from my church. I had to fill in a stack of papers and I have to get a tuberculin test - a two part series. Well, money has been kind of short. Karrie, our CARE ministers wife told me where I could get this for $12.
Every year at work all employees, full and part time and per diem, have to attend a Skills Fair where various procedures are reviewed. The last things reviewed was getting a tuberculin test - a two part one at no cost to the employee. That includes ME!!!! So my first test will be read tomorrow. I get the second one next Monday and it will be read on Wednesday of next week. I will ask for a copy of it so I can keep one for me and make a copy for Karrie for the state and county. God does care about the smallest things. Thank you awesome God.

Diana
I have some advice on meeting prisoners. Years ago I worked in virtually all the prisons in our large county--state, federal, county, city (jails) public and private, juvenile and youth, men and women. Why would I bother to list them? Because what I'm about to say can keep you out of trouble. If you encounter hateful stares, and you will soon enough, my suggestion is to look the person directly in the eye for 1 or 2 seconds, then look away (continue what you were doing) as if you aren't bothered by their act. Do not get into a staring contest! Things can escalate quickly. Be very careful not to insinuate anything about race. I've seen a room full of angry young men polarize instantly over an innocent observation someone made.
Be careful. Carry yourself with confidence--walk with a purpose, speak with confidence--and stay alert.
May God be with you as He has promised!

I am going with a group from my church with the Celebrate Recovery program. I have to have 4 hours of training from the county and from the state before I can go into the county jails or state prisons. My son told me those things about walking the streets of the city when he was in college in Richmond, VA. VCU was in the worst part of town.
Thanks for the advice.
