I love sharing what God does for and with me. You all knew I was going to Yosemite to spend 3 days with my son, dil, and grandson. Yosemite is 475 miles from where I live. A week ago tonight I told friends in CR that I would be leaving - driving - on Sat and that I would stop in Bakersfield, CA, spend the night there, go to church on Sunday morning and then drive in to Yosemite. A CR friend told me her sister lives in Bakersfield and attends a really good church. She called her sister and got the name of the church and gave it to me. When I arrived in Bakersfield I stopped at a Hampton Inn. After I registered I asked if they knew where the Valley Bible Church was. Can you imagine the answer?? It was 5 minutes down the road!!! That is adventure number 1.
Adventure number 2 was on Monday. We were hiking up to Vernal Falls. I was a nice sunny day. My grandson found a hiking stick for me. As we walked along I saw a woman with sticks that looked like ski poles. I asked her about them. She said they were hiking sticks that can be bought at any sporting goods store. My son and his family were going faster then me, so I told them to keep on going and they could catch me on their way back down. I stopped to rest and along came this lady with the 2 walking sticks. We talked and she let me use them for a little bit as we walked along. I gave her the sticks back as we walked and rested. Then she said she was JW and started giving me her spiel. When she started I started praying for God to give me the words to say. We both agreed we only need Jesus and the Bible. Then she told me about their version of the Trinity - a father, mother and son. Oh, I had told her I had been an SDA and was no longer. When she mentioned the Trinity I told her that is what I learned as an SDA, but not I did not believe it that way. Then she said that on Sunday she was going to celebrate Christ's death. I know God gave me the words. I said I was going to celebrate His resurrection. I followed up with if He had not been resurrected there would be no hope for salvation for anyone. Then I said Jesus was sitting at the right side of God. She repeated what I said to herself about His resurrection, salvation and sitting at the right hand of God. Her "preaching" stopped there and we spoke of other things. We got to the bottom of Vernal Falls and she went on. I stayed there.
This is adventure #2 A.
While waiting for my son & family I saw a young girl I had seen earlier. I commented that I was glad she had made it that far. She was with another girl. To make a long story shorter it turns out the other girl lives in Las Vegas. I asked her if she had a home church. Surprise, surprise!! She attends the same church I do!! I told her what service I attend and that I volunteer for that service. That was unexpected adventure #3.
Adventure 2 A has a B. After Vernal Falls we drove around, then went to an overlook just outside Wawona Tunnel. After we took lots of photos my son asked it we are finished and we head for the car. Just then the JW lady sees me and tells me "I remember your last name, but not your first. I want my husband to take a picture of you and me so I can show my daughter". She greeted me like a long lost friend. This surprised me. So we stood there withour arms around each other while her husband took a photo of us. We hugged as we left each other.
I woke up early the next morning and was thinking of her. I prayed and asked God to wake her up and talk to her. I know I will see her in heaven.
So, these are the unexpected adventures God had in store for me since last week.
As I am typing this I am smiling as I think of them and the awesome God who arranges everything.
Oh, my son and family came down from Vernal Falls and I got to introduce him and family to my "friend" from church. I did not get to introduce him to Lucretia, my JW friend.
I did tell my family about finding the church I attended and what happened with Lucretia.
I had a fantastic week. God's nature is so awesome.
Thank you awesome God for such a good time.

That is okay Francie. There will be another time. At least we got to meet each other. I am so glad you came to Henderson and stayed at the Fiesta. It was fun talking to you and meeting your husband.
Our awesome God arranged that also.
