Read this incredible statement:

"Seventh-day Adventists have been chosen by God as a peculiar people, separate from the world...The greatest wealth of truth EVER ENTRUSTED TO MORTALS, the most solemn and fearful warnings EVER SENT BY GOD TO MAN, have been committed to them to be given to the world..." Testimonies for the Church, vol.7, p. 138.

I just finished reading this:

For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.
(Eph 2:14-16) NASB

If Christ's death broke down this "dividing wall"... then who is man to go back and re-erect this wall?

wow...what a sad quote!

About 11 years ago, we threw all our Ellen White "Testimony" books out in the trash....a freeing experience.

I don't think too many Adventists study those "testimonies" enough! Perhaps they should be required reading; perhaps the books would drive them to despair (if not insanity!)...

But, of course, more hopefully, may Adventist eyes be opened to the TRUE REST found EVERY day in JESUS.

There are no more sacrifices left to do or required in the New Covenant...except the daily offering of our bodies to God as living sacrifices. This is our spiritual act of worship. (Romans 12:1)

Hey, Cindy, I threw ours out too. When I visit my parents I check through their SDA magazines to see what's up. This quote was in one of the articles. Fortunately they don't actually read them...anyway, just had to share this with you all. It's quite a blasphemous claim--think of all the 'mortals' (ie, Paul, John, Luke, Matthew, even Moses) that this statement denigrates!!

Problem is they get around this by claiming that the TEN Commandments are "eternal" and the "commandments contained in ordanances" are "ceremonial laws" and only THOSE have been abolished... (sigh)
We were, and they still are.... so blind.

I threw out all my egw books within a year after leaving adventism for good, i.e., the right reason - to follow Jesus Christ.
I wrapped the books in a plastic sack and then another one So it would not break and someone pick up the books.

That whole 10 commandments being eternal really makes no sense when you think about it logically. For one Eternal means NO TIME, BEFORE TIME, AFTER TIME for the 10 to be Eternal means that they existed with God before creation, since as claimed "The 10 Commandments are a representation of God's character". Yet we have the Sabbath being established after man, so that's after Time, Universe, after Stars, Planets, Light, Earth, Fish, Birds, Animals and finally man, then comes the Sabbath. How can the Sabbath be eternal if it came into existence after man. Even Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So we know the Sabbath is not eternal nor can be since it did not exist with God before Time and creation. The Sabbath is in regard to time and that means a beginning and surely and end. Since the weekly Sabbath was all about time and on a weekly basis had a beginning (sundown Friday) and an end (Sundown Saturday). One can also analyze the other commandments and see hwo they can not exactly be eternal as laid out.

With that said, that brings up a side note. What does it mean to inherit enternal life. Does it just mean that now as believers we live forever? Well sort of, however eternal denotes before time as well. So we know God is eternal right? So Eternal life is exactly what the bible teaches. those who repent, confess and faith in Jesus are born of the Spirit, we receive the Spirit as our guarantee. The Spirit is God, is Jesus is Eternal Life. We inherit God Himself living in us. What a reward. What more do we need?

Yes, Paul...good thoughts on the Ten Commandments!

I often notice that Adventists speak of the New Earth prophecies of coming to worship God "from one Sabbath to another" (Isaiah 66)... but don't promote the New Moon celebrations that are included in this verse!

They also disregard the verses is Revelation 21 which speak of the New Jeruselem city: "the city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp...there will be no night there." Oh my, how are we to know when "sundown worship" should begin?

Yes, the gift of God is Eternal Life, this Life is the gift of GOD Himself to us!

Cindy that is so true about the verses in Rev 21 - there will be no night there- I often wondered about that as an Adventist but just put it aside as something I didn't understand.

And they think the Seal of God is the Sabbath! Ephesians 1:13,14 makes it clear that the Holy Spirit is the Seal: "...in Whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, Who is the guarantee of our inheritance..."

Recently, Adventist Doctors of Spin-ology have begun referring to the Sabbath as "the sign of the seal" (i.e., Sabbath observance is the SIGN that you have been SEALed by the Holy Spirit).

These guys could sell ice to Eskimos.

Exactly, Freeatlast. The deception never ends. It's interesting that satan is repeatedly exposed in the NT as a liar, the father of lies, and he is described misquoting or quoting Scripture out of context when he tempted Jesus in the wilderness.

We absolutely can't be lulled into apathy by the subtle confusion. We have to know Jesus and be born again and know Scripture and submit to it. That's our only defense against the subtle deception that ebbs and flows around us.

I may be a little more outspoken about this subject than most. However; in my mind, the cultic SDA teaching and doctrines that go along with it is of the devil.

6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel 7which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

That text speaks for itself!!!

1 Timothy 4:1 (New American Standard Bible)

1 Timothy 4
Apostasy
1But (A)the Spirit explicitly says that (B)in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to (C)deceitful spirits and (D)doctrines of demons,

1 Corinthians 10

18Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? 19Do I mean then that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? 20No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. 21You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. 22Are we trying to arouse the Lord's jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

You can not be part of both. If you have the Holy Spirit in you, you can not be part of cultic doctrines that teach "another gospel".

1 Timothy 6:3-5 (New International Version)

Love of Money
3If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

If the SDA's church were to fold, just think of all the money they would be missing out on!!! The leadership of this cult will not allow that to happen. They will continue to deceive people in order to line their own pockets.

I think that the majority of SDA's are simply deceived. If they knew the truth, they would run away from SDA screaming in horror.

The leadership on the other-hand knows of the error. They try to cover it up in order to perpetuate their evil scheme.

Ok rant off.....It's just that "SAD" was preached to me so much as the "gospel truth" that I believed it to be true. And when I realized that I could never become perfect, I gave up altogether! So many wasted years being the best sinner I could be, cuz I was going to hell anyway!

Praise the Lord that He called my name....called me to Himself and justified me through faith alone. I was busy being a sinner, so it was only by grace alone. I did not have any faith at all, so the gift of faith was also by grace alone. Perhaps it is unchristian of me to feel as strongly opposed to this cult as I do, I don't know. What I do know is that they are leading people into a terrible error, an error that if undiscovered will lead them to hell.

My family's heritage in SDA goes back along way. This heresy was introduced to my great-grandfather back in the 1870's. Almost all my relatives are SDA. I love them very much, but fear for their salvation. They won't listen to me about anything, due to my being an apostate.

The change in my life does not mean anything to them. They figure that now that I've found the Lord that eventually I'll become SDA again and thus be saved. How sad.....

Asetechrail; my relatives won't listen to me either. My mother threatens to hang up on me when we're talking on the phone, if I bring it up. She absolutely refuses to look anything up in the Bible that I'm trying to point out.
