In this week's quarterly commentary Richard ends with one question. My answer is because the power behind their theology wants you to drink the cool aide.

Click on this link and see if you agree with my answer to his question:

Check this! The FB page on Favorite Quotations from EGW. I post there once in a while. Mild stuff trying to see if someone catches on. But to no avail.

There is a little quote that a posted that has provoked a lot of comments trying to justify her. Check it out:

Hec,

I never cease to be amazed at the many excuses Adventists give for the EGW quotes that they don't like or don't make sense. For example, a popular SDA argument is that we should "balance" the statements of Ellen White. They never tell us how to "balance" two contradicting statements. Which one is inspired? Unlike Martin Luther, who wished that some of his early writings could be burned, Ellen White never had the luxury of maturing in her understanding of biblical truth. After all, her first vision was supposedly as inspired as her last one. Truly, she put herself in a box. All in all, her integrity is now at stake.

PS: You presented the SDAs on that forum with excellent questions. However, no Adventist was willing to accept her vision as authoritative and final in 1850. Adventists have created an "inner canon" (proof-text system) in Scripture as well. For example, SDA pastors NEVER quote 1 Thessalonians 4:14 at their funerals. They treat it as though it didn't even exist. Lots of other passages that contradict SDA teachings are NEVER memory verses in Sabbath School (smile). Truly, it requires a generous dose of cognitive dissonance (the ability to believe two opposing views simultaneously) to be a Seventh-day Adventist. --DJF

Unbelievable, Hec! And good for you--there is no logic to the answers they gave you..."She didn't have enough knowledge", etc. If she was receiving visions from God, the point isn't HER knowledge!! And they decide, by their interpretation that her plain words don't really mean what they mean...wow.
