The latest Proclamation! is now online. The hard copies will be dropped at the post office tomorrow, so they should be arriving within the next couple weeks or so.

This is perhaps one of the most significant issues we've ever produced, with the carefully cited piece on the Adventists' conversations with Walter Martin and Donal Grey Barnhouse in the mid-50s, with the 1957 article written by Dr Louis Talbot, then chancellor of what is now Biola University, in which he explains why Adventism is NOT evangelical, and with Dale Ratzlaff's piece contrasting new GC president Ted Wilson's first sermon to the world organization with the gospel.

The Talbot article is amazing—all of Talbot's concerns ares still true today. His article was a direct response to Barnhouse's publications in Eternity magazine in which he declares Adventism to be evangelical.

Check it out!

Talbot's article is excellent! What a godsend, and as you mentioned, perfectly timed for this important issue of Proclamation!

I'm going to share this one with a friend. We've had long talks about how sda want to appear to be evangelical but aren't. He referenced a summitt that was held at southern college in the 90's and said he found it hard to believe that sdas could deceived some of the greatest evangelical minds of the time. So he should be interested in the article.

How do we order extra copies of this issue (and older issues, for that matter).

I'm in the middle of the Talbot piece and it's fascinating. I'm learning a lot and trying to think about how this new brotherly love between Christians and Adventists affected the brand of Adventism that I experienced growing up. I think the softer, gentler Adventism made it okay to read and study the Bible under the teaching of non-SDAs (Bible studies, Christian conferences, BSF, devotionals, etc.). It was not forbidden (though we were to take their teaching with a grain of salt). Interestingly, when we made our exit, a family-member mentioned that we'd been "studying with unbelievers" and that's why we'd been led astray.

Anyway, it's all very interesting...and it'll be interesting to watch what God is doing, bringing this thing full circle and calling out the sheep that will hear His voice.

The Talbot article stoked my own internal flames of conflict again. 10 years after leaving Adventism, I continue to find myself struggling to resolve the tension between "Fellowship is impossible" (which I believe is true) and having two children who also happen to be the grandchildren of devout Adventists that absolutely refuse to discuss Adventism with me in any way, shape, or form.

How to demonstrate Christlike love to those with whom "Fellowship is impossible"...

Yes, Cloudwatcher...it was very, very clear to me that God did it. I said to Richard, "How amazing that God had Talbot write that piece in 1957—and He KNEW that it would run again in 2010. He INTENDED it!"

I am in awe, actually.

I love the picture of the guy with his fingers crossed behind his back :-)---it is a humorous yet true picture of the face--or should I say the backside of Seventh-day Adventism

To my way of thinking this is the best Proclamation ever. I downloaded it and finished reading it today.

Louis T. Talbot’s article was of special interest to me because the year he publish it, 1957, was the year I left the Adventist church…unfortunately, to join the world. I was one of those who simply gave up and decided to become a really good sinner because why struggle to be perfect when it was obvious to me I would never be even close.

I was sixteen and oh so alone with my struggles in those days. If only I could have known what Talbot was clearly teaching at that very time and could have known it was not me but the false teachings I was raised under that hindered my relationship with the Lord, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

I did an internet search and found out that In 1960, he came out with a book titled; “What’s wrong with Seventh-day Adventism?”. The book is long out of print but I found a copy on Amazon and ordered it. I assume it to be a summary of his published articles on Adventism. If it is what I think it is I will send it on to Richard and Colleen as a useful addition to their library.

GREAT issue of Proclamation!

Just a week before this issue came out I went and listened to the Martin and Johnsson interview on the John Ankerberg show.

[Posted on the Mark Martin's website at; http://www.exadventist.com/Home/Video/tabid/502/Default.aspx ]

This issue of Proclamation is even more important to me after listening to that interview.

Thanks to every and all who make this possible.

Proclamation text by Dale Ratzlaff on Pauls Gospel is very needed, because I was often acused by felow SDAs, to hanging on Pauls letters only... like I was impresed by Paul, and not Gospel.
Very good, thanks Dale!

I am about 1/2 way through this issue of Proclamation and ... WOW !
I am VERY impressed with the articles, the clarity and the HEART that went into it.
Great Job !
I feel bad that I have not been able to financially help with Proclamation as much as I would like... it fills such a need for truth about Adventism that I hope we will ALL do what we are able to help keep it going.

Dale on p.28. of Proclamation! get the core of the White lie:

This is a core staff:

In ancient times God spoke to men by the mouth of
prophets and apostles. In this days He speaks to them by the
Testimonies of His Spirit [writings of EGW]… The Lord has
seen fit to give me a view of the need and errors of His people.”
Ellen G. White, Testimonies for the Church, vol. 5, p.
147,148. (Compare Heb. 1:1-3, Ellen White usurps Christ as
God’s final word.)

Insted of Christ we have Ellen! What a contradiction and abuse of Bible!

Yes, Goran—isn't that horrific? She took Hebrews 1:1-3 and wrote herself into it. It's actually quite horrifying.

I've gotten the next two installments of the three-part article by Louis Talbot of which we ran part one in this newest Proclamation. In the second part, Talbot makes this statement:

quote:

When you realize how the sanctuary idea snowballed into this intricate doctrinal system involving the very atonement of Christ, you can readily see that there is something more than mere human thinking back of the entire movement.

In the third installment he says this in his discussion of the Seventh-day Adventist view of Sabbath:

quote:

There is such a fanatical and unrelenting attempt on the part of the Seventh-day Adventists to make the Scriptures mean what they wish them to teach, that one, in reading their arguments, is impressed that there is indeed something Satanic about such a rabid brand of religiosity. Apparently it is the design of the enemy of men's souls to divert the attention of the needy soul to the observance of a day, as a means of salvation, and away from the Lord Himself as "the way, the truth and the life."

I agree.
