Years ago at the bible school I attended we learned about pilars of faith. Four sentral doctrines in the sda beilef that somehow builds the foundation of the church. Now I cannot remember all of those four, maybe you can help?
I think some of them were
- 1884 /IJ
- The law/sabbath
- SOP?
- ?

Berit, I don't remember the actual "pillars", but I think one of them is the state of the dead doctrine and the great controversy.

I think it is generally the four "S's":

Sanctuary (including 1844/IJ)
Sabbath
Spirit of Prophecy
State of the Dead

Thank you Jeremy! ! I think you are right with the four S's. We learned of them as "pillars" as they are the foundation of the sda "truth". I will meet with a former friend from school who wondered why I left. I thougt to reffer to the S's, and thought it to be a good idea to have them right.. -and maybe show why they are wrong.. ;-)

I don't know if they are CDs or DVDs, but I recently saw a "Pillars of The Faith" set advertised.

This website defines the Four pillars of the Adventist faith as:

1. The Sanctuary (the temple of God)
2. The Sabbath
3. The State of the Dead (non-immortality of the wicked)
4. The Three Angels' Messages

Perhaps humorous, perhaps serious - regarding Pillars of the church:

Galatians 2:9ESV and when James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given to me, they gave the right hand of fellowship to Barnabas and me, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

Pillars are people not doctrines. <grin>

The pope and Ellen White! They're two peas in the same pod, Hec! Oh yeah and the current Mormon president is supposed to have the same "prophetic gift" as Joseph Smith! Then there's the watchtower and others.... ugg!

Compare this with the four pillars of the Christian faith.

The four pillars of Adventism

1. The Sanctuary (the temple of God)
2. The Sabbath
3. The State of the Dead (non-immortality of the wicked)
4. The Three Angels' Messages

The four pillars of the Christian faith.

1. Believe that Christ died and rose the third day. 1 Cor 15:1 and Romans 10: 9,10
2. Sola fide, by faith alone.
3. Christ deity.
4. Absolute and complete atonement for our sins at the cross.
