Here's a paragraph from an article by Andy Nash in the February 17, 2011 issue of the Adventist Review:

quote:

Does the Sabbath and Colossians 2 actually come up in everyday conversation? Actually, I believe the topic is relevant to church members who might have run into the buzzsaw of Life Assurance Ministries and their campaign against Sabbath rest and other Adventist beliefs. This experience has challenged and strained many Adventist families, in part because we haven’t always provided the careful biblical teaching that we should. That’s why I wrote the column.

Amazing, isn't it...that LAM is accused of a "campaign against Sabbath rest"?

Yeah, I could have gone for a good nap yesterday if I wasn't part of LAM.

Because they are talking about LAM they must be worried. That is good!!! Maybe church members will look up LAM on the internet and find out what it is all about. God is always victorious!!! And so very awesome!!

The cult has chosen an arbitrary/artificial 24 hour period over the living God.

How distorted that advocating the 24/7 rest found only in Jesus is equated as a "campaign against Sabbath rest".

There is a saying something along the line of 'all roads lead to heaven'. Well, I've concluded that indeed all roads will inescapably lead to the presence of God (and judgment), unfortunately for some only one of those roads leads to salvation.

I'll just keep thumping (from another thread)

A SINNER saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

How about the Adventists' campaign against the gospel?

This is what Jesus warned about - families being divided over Him (Luke 12:51-53).

The Adventist church isn't doing anything that various communities didn't do to "protect" their members against the gospel 2000 years ago. I imagine that there was a huge amount of pressure against people NOT to accept the gospel!!!

I'm saddened by this article. It's inoculating the SDA church members against learning the gospel of the Bible and keeping them leaning on Ellen White. :-(

"...their campaign against Sabbath rest and other Adventist beliefs."

Which is it? Is Sabbath a "rest" or is it a "belief"?

I rest in the finished work of Jesus every day of the week. "Today" as Hebrews 3 & 4 says. He is my Sabbath rest. Praise God!

LAM is a buzzsaw, and the animals asking Uncle Andrew about himself was really growling and snuffling . . . (referencing The Magician's Nephew)

Helovesme2,

Magician's Nephew reference is "bang-on".

C.S. Lewis so often portrayed the blind - veilish way God's move is perceived...

I love the fact that they have mentioned LAM, --what GREAT P.R.!!
It also underscores the importance and impact of this ministry. Remember, the SDA church editors let that mention get through. If I were an SDA, I would immediately become curious and check out the site. Make sure there's a lot of good stuff on that front page.

Richard and Colleen, --God is using you in awesome ways!

I agree, MM! This "bad press" is another way SDAs will become aware of the ministry of LAM and hear the REAL gospel!

Yes, the Biblical gospel is indeed a buzzsaw, cutting through the deceptions like a hot knife through butter. Andy Nash, you "done good"! God uses whatever means necessary...He is wonderful! If He could use Balaam's donkey, He can certainly use the "Review"!!!

It is great PR! I mentioned to a few SDAs that my husband was attending FAF and their reaction was "A conference? Well how many formers are there?" One friend seemed shocked that there is a magazine. And judging from the emotionally-charged reactions I get from some on FB, I know that so many don't *GET* that there are real, legitimate, biblical reasons to leave Adventism. I guess they think we're an isolated case...

Thanks to the Review, many more will soon live in a whole new reality.

What I find so interesting is that my SDA friends on facebook never say anything to me. I am sure they see the things I have on there. Only my 85 year old cousin said something once and has not commented since. I just pray that what they read plants a seed.

I was in Deuteronomy in the last week and chapter 32:30 & 31 comes to mind "How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up? or their rock is not like our Rock"

I also like Leviticus 26:7 You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword (or buzz saw) before you.

God's word is a sword (Eph 6) and it will divide truth from error. The SDA church may try to rewrite history but the fact of the matter is that God's remnant church has been in existence with sound doctrine and has stood for 2 thousand years.

Their argument is the same as the Mormons that they have "restored" the gospel. Their doctrine has attacked Christ's church yet they want to say those who stand for biblical truth are attacking them. Aye carumba
