I have come to realize that there are doctrines and other questions that cannot be settled universally. The end result in my experince has been derailments and distractions that end up doing more harm than good.

What I need to know is what will build up, not create another whirlpool of confusion.

It is not that these questions are not important, it is more of a case that they are black holes in my own experience.

I have tried to handle them passively, to at least acknowledge they exist. But everytime I pick them up , I get burned.
I can't afford this.

Back to simplicity if that is possible.

I want a functional Faith that builds up rather than tears down. That produces a peace that passes my understanding, to embrace a reality that rises above the darkness. The brings forth healing and renewed strength, and encouragement that drives out fear.

I have tried so many paths.
Trust suggests that all this has been for a purpose. A process of experinece of what does not work. Maybe it will be for the good someday.

It is all wrapped up in trust, isn't it....

Jim,
God doesn't waste anything. At some point every experience seems to bring a benefit.

Not every question is meant to be answered at the same time. I think you may have been trying to answer too many different things all at the same time. I know that, at least for me, it took over a decade to process just the main tenets of SDAism. There is no need to rush anything. You can trust that God will take care of everything in His timing.

And yes, it really is all wrapped up in trust.

Romans 8:28 (New International Version)

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

Welcome Diverman,

You just quoted one of my favorite verses. This, along with the verses that follow are what led me out of Adventism. That, along with the prayers of friends who wouldn't give up on me until I 'got it'.

Anyway, again welcome.

Wecome Diverman!

Jim02,

You asked "What will build up..." Only Christ can build you up, only Christ takes away confusion, only Christ gives faith, and only Christ gives peace. Christ is our only path...

Follow Him. The Spirit is your counselor and will guide you into all truth.

Diverman,

Welcome to this group of travelers.

Blessings in your journey with the Lord. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Some of us mostly read, some of us write often, non of us have "all the answers" but we do pursue Jesus. You should be able to find a place to fit into our community. Welcome!

Paul Cross
