Hey everybody, long time no post..)

Lets face it
For all of it's faults and erroneous teachings Adventism provided us with one thing. All of our thinking was done for us. If you could handle all of the guilt and the burden of Adventist ritual you could almost fool yourself into finding a warped sense of security.

We were all led out of Adventism by God's grace. Once we were out it was a whole different world and we were wholly unprepared for what awaited us. There are so many traps and pitfalls that exist in the Christian world that resemble Adventism and are attractive to the still Adventist mind. So many movements provide a magic formula salvation it's easy to trade one form of bondage for another.

Probably the biggest challenge is finding a genuine Bible teaching Church. I am so thankful for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and their radio boradcasts. While I was still looking for the perfect belief and ritual system that would get me into heaven, I was hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith truly comes from hearing the word of God. I cannot explain how God works in our hearts and minds, I just know that he does. All of the baggage, hurts, longings, sin melt away and I am his.

I work for atheists. The Vice Pres. and his family are professed non-believers, in anything. Now keep in mind, I'm a Lilly liver of a Christian who probably couldn't even explain the Trinity. My VP's wife has had an ongoing fight with cancer. I recently confessed to her that I had been praying for her. She almost cried and revealed that she prays. I almost cried too.

Bless you for praying for her and for speaking up and letting her know :-) If she "prays" then she is not really an Atheist at heart :-) Maybe she just says she is to keep peace in her home.... ? or just maybe her "non believing" husband prays also. :-)

Sorry I rambled in my post. It gets that way when you want to say so much.

Actually Skeeter,

My companies VP believes more that she does. The trouble is they have had so much for so long. It wasn't until the cancer turned up that the possibility of God became an option. I, like you don't believe anyone is really an atheist. People can choose not to believe or ignore what they know in their heart to be true.

Treasuehntr, it's good to see you again! What a great thing for you to tell her that you're praying for her. God knows what we need and how to get our attention.

And by the way, I'm more and more convinced that God Himself leads and teaches us through His word and helps us find congregations where we can grow and contribute. Putting His word into our heads is the primary way He helps us become anchored in truth and reality. I can't explain, even to myself, how it happens...I just know that the more I absorb His word and pray to know what is real, the more "things" make sense, and Scripture becomes more and more a tangible source of understanding what goes on in my world.
