Hi 8thday. I had an interesting experience while attending an SDA academy. There were guys playing the Ouija board game and experienced demonic activity. One guy put a key in the Bible at Revelation 1 where Jesus says that he has the keys of Hades and of death. Later, the guy started getting seeing manifestations of demonic aparitions and decided to pull the key out of the Bible but when he tried to open his bible to get the key out, it would not open. He literally had to rip the Bible apart to get the key out. It sure scared the tar out of him.

I have a lot more stories I could share. But there is one thing I know. Jesus covers and protects us and and when you need a good promise read psalm 91.

Welcome, Thegoldenway.

Sondra, I appreciate your goal: to honor the Lord Jesus for being sovereign over everything, even evil. The point isn't what evil does but that God is stronger and Jesus has already won the victory!

We do indeed have the victory in Jesus and God is indeed stronger. Eph 1:18-23 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and HIS INCOMPARABLY GREAT POWER FOR US WHO BELIEVE. That power is like the working of HIS MIGHTY STRENGTH, which HE EXERTED IN CHRIST when he reaised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far ABOVE ALL RULE AND AUTHORITY, POWER AND DOMINION, AND EVERY TITLE THAT CAN BE GIVEN, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed ALL THINGS under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

O victory in Jesus, My savior fovever. He sought me and bought me with His redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him, and all my love is due Him, He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood.

WELCOME Goldenway! And VJS... and hi to all the other new members since I've been away. :-) THANK you for all your input. I am overwhelmed by this, and those who responded also to my question on facebook. God has brought this into my line of sight for a reason, and the battle that is waging in my daughter's life - and HE IS the VICTOR... always. I am so thankful for that place of security and peace He has given me in spite of my struggles.

I didn't experience anything weird as an SDA PK in my home. However, while living in the dorm at Wisconsin Academy, I recall girls talking about knocking on doors. Some of them were dabbling in the occult. It was rumored that one girl was collecting ppl's blood to drink it in some of her rituals. Of course, the faculty kept all this stuff on the down-low. To this day, I don't know how much they knew and didn't tell us as students.

I'm very disappointed that my folks spent thousands of $$ to send me there to obtain a sub-par education and to live in a dorm with all that goofiness going on around me. I'm grateful I was protected from experiencing the demonic activity. The stories I heard were frightening enough!

While in the SDA church I found myself drawn to things occultic and satanic. Things New Age, like Crystals and Alien UFO's always had a pull on me.

Now that I understand where I really stand with God I have no compulsion to seek out these satanic things.

I and my family had some really terrible dreams/nightmares as I was coming out of the SDA belief system. Fortunately I new the origin of these nightmares and quickly commanded the devil to leave.

God is so great all of the time and I know He has my picture on His refrigerator!

Speaking of UFO's, there did seem to be an unusual fascination among conspiracy-minded SDAs about things of that nature. There were stories of Satanic encounters endorsing SDAism as the only true Christians and therefore to be feared by that side. As if that endorsement was needed to prove anything.

One story that particularly stands out in my mind was when I was around 7th grade or a little younger, some SDA guy traveled through our area and spoke at our SDA church. Everyone was so fascinated with him that he was invited to spend the afternoon with a bunch of us from that church for a Sabbath afternoon walk in nature where we got to hear even more of his wild stories and ask all the questions we wanted--and people hung on his every word. The story was about his friend (always second or third-hand information) who was abducted by aliens into a UFO and was told by the aliens who were obviously really the devil's angels masquerading as aliens, that they were really scared how short their time was and that the SDAs are the only ones who have it right. Also something about they were definitely working up the Sunday laws and they were just about to pass. And more stuff thrown in about the Illuminiti and the eye on the dollar bill. You know the drill. Oh, and there was the helpful hint from these aliens that the reason Jesus hadn't come back yet is because there wasn't yet enough compassion among the SDA people. I can't imagine such garbage going on in any Christian church!

Reminds me of a book out while we were SDA .. a man that had come out of Satanism claiming that those who kept the Sabbath had special protection, and that true Satanists also believe in soul sleep - that all the mediums and psychic circus is just a distraction. (as if... that somehow validated the SDA belief.. which was strange logic to me.)

All this just increases the fear factor and the need to run to a belief system and methods of obedience for security.

Jesus is the only safe place. He is the totality of our armor.

Ya I remember reading that book.. In fact I was just thinking about it. I was wondering why satan would deliberately draw attention to the SDA's if they were the true church. Have you ever wondered why the people who had angelic visitations would be told about sda's and the sabbath and many times they would be shown "the red books" or the "9 books"....never the bible and never about Jesus. Hummmmm.... never gave it much thought along those lines til recently. By the way that book is called, "A Trip Into the Supernatural" by Roger Morneau.

My cousin recommended Roger Morneau books to me several years ago. After he told me about them he gave me one. I'd heard enough, Mr. Morneau's book rests comfortably somewhere in a city incinerator.

By the way

Welcome to the new guys!!

Sondra, maybe you should put together a little collection of these testimonies online like in a blog? What do you think? Pray about it, aye?

Sondra, thanks for the topic

Did anybody hear about people putting a key into their Bible at Daniel 7:7? During the 80s as I remember in my area a bunch of people did this and manifested very strange, bizarre an satanic actions. There are too many stories to tell but the idea was that putting a physical key in the bible was opening oneself to spirits. At the time my only religious contacts were SDA so all the stories came from SDAs I don't know if any of this type of thing happened in Christian churches

Personally I remember one time during one of our looooong family worship sessions opening my eyes during prayer and seeing what looked like a a black shadow running upping the stairs to the top level of the house. I went upstairs later to look for it but didnt' see anything. Now that I think of it I haven't told that story to anyone before today. Not sure what it was but it was quite strange ==nothing like that has happened since I became a Christian.

Enoch, I've heard other Adventists talk about the key-in-the-Bible "thing" in SDA academies. And thank you for telling your story...God is so faithful. He rescued us from true darkness, deep darkness, and we had no idea...

Enoch,

I never heard about the 'key in the bible thing' but it does remind me back in the days when I had frequent 'bad dreams'. Funny thing is we were living at Angwin within sight of the Pacific Union College at the time. We were there so dad could look after granddad who died in 1952. The dreams went away when we moved to Vallejo.

When I was at Andrews there was a girl there who said she talked to the devil in her room. She pointed to her chair and said "he sits there". She was eventually thrown out of the dormitory because of so many things she did.
She eventually was staying with a nice lady and her daughter. She burned the woman's house down because she said that Devil was on the couch and she had to set fire to it. It's true. She lost her nice violin in the fire...so sad she had those issues.

When I was at Atlantic Union College I had a weird roommate (originally from Haiti, but lived on Long Island, New York). She and I used to fight a lot. One night I was laying in bed and I felt that I was being electrocuted. I could hear and feel vibrations. There was no rational explanation for that...I prayed in my head (Dear Jesus, Please Make It Stop) and it quit immediately. Other times my lamp and radio went on by themselves.

Back in 1965 or 1966 when I was in Broadview Academy, there was a big scare about someone in one of the dorms was going to put a key in Daniel 7....I don't remember too much about it except everyone was scared that the devil was going to appear. The next day in our "Bible" class the teacher was telling the class that this was all nonsense and nothing to be afraid of.

I heard all the stories such as the key in the bible thing & other visitations or ouija board manifestations when I was in the dorm at SVA. But I was not the one who actually had these things happen to me. Nor did I hear from a first person witness. I cannot verify the veracity of the stories. I have wondered if the stories were truly based on facts & actual happenings or if they were the stuff of 'urban legends'? ~J9

I actually heard one from my mom, years ago...now I wonder...

A woman who had just lost her husband was at the market and a man in the produce section started talking to her, learned her husband had just died and shared with her the real truth about the state of the dead. She found an SDA church and joined it over this new truth. Of course, when she went back to thank the man, she was told no one by that name had ever worked there!

I thought about this subject today.
About the key in the Bible, just WHY would putting a key in the Bible provoke evil spirits? Why Daniel 7? I do wonder...
