Why in the world do the mainline denominations still play softball with Adventism?

They have to see it. It's all there is little red books for everyone to read. There is testimony from we who have been under it's control.

Many of the main line denominations do not know what adventists really believe. I met a Baptist minister and his wife, at a local Baptist church, who studied adventists cultic beliefs when in seminary. Pastor Jud, at the church God told me to go to, thought they were Christian b/c Walter Martin said they were not a cult. I gave him about 5 books written by Ratzlaff, Taylor and I forget the others so he could be educated. I am under the impression he did not really believe me when I told him about sda beliefs. The CARE minister and his wife believed me. I gave Ratzlaff's book to a couple of other ministers there.
At the Calvary Chapel I attend now, the pastor does not know what adventists believe. I told him to read the Rose publishing brochure he has in the book store. He knows who Mark Martin is though.
It is a matter of visiting their churches and giving the pastor a copy of "The Truth About Adventist Truth". When I visit another church I try to have a copy with me. I found a few copies in my book case.
Awesome God will let you know who to educate.

Preaching the Gospel is divisive

There is a segment of the American 'Christian' church that has abandoned Christian tenets for the warm fuzzies of 'why can't we just all get along?', some going so far as to read the Quran in church and 'dialoguing' with Muslims to find 'common ground', after all we ALL worship the same God. Given this 'Jesus not essential' agenda it's not at all surprising that Adventists, Mormons JWs… are not even on their radar.

To be fair, so many preachers are kept busy just tending their own flock to keep up with the beliefs of a sect that is usually not even on the radar. Their parishioners might get visits from the JW's, or the Mormons, but not usually the SDA's. The pastor likely won't meet an SDA pastor at his ministerial association meetins either, since often the meetings are held on Saturday.

So, between being run ragged in their own parish and not having a parishioners being exposed to Adventism, most of them just don't give it a thought.

I have just learned that the local SDA church that I have left is going to be putting on a health seminar and then spring boarding that into a prophecy seminar this fall. I just can't stand here and do nothing in regards to warning the other churches in town. Is there some kinda of flier...not looking for a book....that would give a decent explaination of SDA beliefs. It doesnt have to explain all their beliefs but just the main core ones or even just explaining what the new covenant is really all compared to how the SDAs teach it.
God is sooo wonderful. He is connecting me with an SDA right now. I have had the privilege this weekend to share what I have learned so far with this person. Oh the Spirit was really working with this person and still is. I can tell this person is beginning to see the "Light"!!! At the same time I was also informed this weekend that at the womens group Thursday nite at the SDA church a person there was telling the whole group a bunch of trash about me and then told the group that "It's not over yet." Hummmm..... I wonder what she has in mind to hit me with hahahaha I just pray that God will manifest His nature of love thru me as I walk thru whatever the people of this church decides to dish out to me. That His love will desolve the scales that are covering there eyes causing them to see "the Truth"..... Jesus.

SDA have learned the code words for acceptance, even if they don't really mean those words when they say them. I knew a Lutheran pastor who studied them well who described it as their orthodox confessions "are undermined by other contradictory statements" and "they make a beautiful confession and undermine it by adding another doctrine not found in Scripture". I think too many people assume that SDAs are being forthright about their beliefs when they say they believe in the Trinity and when they claim that we are saved by grace alone. No one expects to be dealing with a church that is this deceptive and manipulative. So they believe what SDAs tell them.

And the ironic thing is that SDAs do not believe that they are part of any other group of churches. To the SDAs "Orthodox Christianity" is the image of the beast. Orthodox Christianity is the Babylon that they are calling people out of. So why do SDAs get offended when we tell them that they are not orthodox? And why do they go to so much trouble to appear orthodox?

GoldenWay,
I prepared a short letter to area pastors that accompanied brochures for the Tour of Encouragement. Included in that letter were the following:

Understanding How Adventist Doctrine Differs from Evangelical Christianity:
At the risk of sounding too strong, the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church is not what it appears to be from the “outside”. I am not talking about the people, they are wonderful, caring, and friendly (which is not unlike the Mormons that I have met). The SDA Church is not merely a legalistic branch of Christianity with differences on one or two finer points of theology. The SDA church presents greatly warped teachings on who God is and how we are saved. I have included a brief summary of these differences on the back of this note. The seminar on Saturday afternoon will explore these differences in greater detail.

Some Differences Between SDA Doctrine and Evangelical Christianity

The Bible

SDAism teaches that there “is nothing supernatural or divine in the language used” in Scripture. That because Scripture had human authors “we must accept the idea of imperfections and mistakes”. And that Scripture is not the only source of authority, that their prophet, Ellen White, is a “continuing and authoritative source of truth” for the church.

The Trinity

SDAism affirms that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are, and have always been, God. But SDAism insists that the Father and Son have always had distinct, separate physical bodies. They believe that the orthodox teaching of the Trinity is “incompatible” with Scripture. Instead they teach that God is three distinct Beings, made from similar substance, who are One in regards to their purpose and level of agreement.

The Seal of God

SDAism denies that the Holy Spirit is the seal of God on His children and insists instead that observation of the 7th day Sabbath will be God’s seal.

Forgiveness of Sins

SDAism teaches that we are given only a probationary forgiveness of our confessed sins, if we fail to “remedy the defects in our character” and even “one spot or stain” remains, all of our confessed sins will be placed back upon us on the day of judgment. And those sins that have not been confessed cannot be forgiven.

Christ and Him Crucified

Christ’s life and death are an example of “a holy human character”, but are not substitutionary. The purpose of Christ’s sinless life was to demonstrate that man can live without sinning, and to show us how to accomplish this. Through His death and resurrection, His followers were infused with His power to help them follow His example.

Thank you for your comments, especially RicB.

The SDA's are experienced sheep stealers. This should be reason enough for apologetic minded christian's to dig deeper and find out what their message really is.

Thank's again

Can't vouch for other stuff on the site, but this one looks pretty decent:

There are a number of articles on CARM, but I can't point to just one saying "this is it".

Thegoldenway,

Christian apologist Robert Bowman, of the Institute for Religious Research, has an excellent Biblical study of the Trinity, here: http://www.irr.org/trinity-outline.html

Also, you may find this short collection of Christian quotes on my website to be helpful: http://www.cultorchristian.com/christiantrinity.html

We really need to encourage each other as we try to educate Christians about Adventism! I believe that those pastors who don't think it's any big deal right now will probably at some point be faced with members of their flock going to Prophecy/Revelation Seminars and then will remember that they once heard there was something 'not quite right' about adventism.
