A truth has finally sunk into my feeble brain. Every aspect of my life is now all about what God is doing and not about me. Many of you, as you read this, will say “gee Phil, wasn’t that obvious all along”?

Maybe my problem has been caused by residual effects of the Adventist teaching that I must do something to be pleasing before a righteous God. And, ignoring the consequence of failing daily.

Simply put, each of our lives and mine in particular, is not about ‘what I do’; rather it is all about what God is doing in my life. I fail but God doesn’t. Overcoming sin isn’t about me doing the overcoming. Rather, it is all about what God is doing.

While an excellent example of a God directed life is surely the story of Hudson Taylor, another example comes to mind, the life of Nate Saint whose life and death is recounted in the movie ‘End of the Spear’. What resulted is truly amazing and illustrates the fact that it is all about what God is doing and never about our self.

Attached is a video clip featuring his son, Steve Saint, who was raised and adopted by the very people who killed his father. At the end of the video Steve explains why he is doing what he is doing. There just is no telling what will happen in our lives when it is God who is doing the directing.

Phil,

I didn't get to watch this until today. I saw where you had posted it on FB.

Your comments reminded me of an incident where I was talking to an Atheist. I had told him based on how God used Caiaphas and Judas, that God was using him too. Up to that point I didn't really know how that may have been, but now the guy I'm talking to is asking for "proof", of that claim. I prayed and asked God to show me how He's using this atheist. God recounted specific parts of our conversation to show me how He was using this man.

The man: The atheist that I was talking to, was an English speaking person who was teaching business men and women in China, English as a second language for business purposes.

How God was using that: Now missionaries that were in China and would be sent to China, wouldn't have to focus on learning a new language to witness to these people.

Of course, the atheist could see what I was saying was true. It made him mad to think a God he didn't want to believe in was using him. He got so mad, he left the message board we were talking on, and never returned to my knowledge. I am quite certain though, a seed had been planted.

I enjoyed the video and I would love to have one of those car-planes!

Dljc,

Where you live you could take off or land just about anywhere. Around here one would want to dodge the trees. Anyway, traffic jams for either of us would not be an issue. If it is good for jungles use I guess it would also work here though. What with all the water around me the pontoons sound like a good idea.

Anyway, the car goes anywhere, land and sea and air.

Yeah, I've got a football field to the south that is the rest of the 5 acres we have here. All I'd have to do is clear the creosote bushes and make sure I remembered the power lines that are at the south end of the field.
