It's tragic and horrible. And I am praying for everyone involved.

I don't want to seem insensitive, but I noticed that in this newstory the pastor of the NEW CONVENANT SDA CHURCH (is that a joke or a misprint?) did not fail to interject the Great Controversy worldview into the conversation:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44092675/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/?gt1=43001

He said that such a case is "very much out of the ordinary," but he understands how such things can happen.
"The Seventh-day Adventist Church understands, as a Christian entity, that indeed there is a constant battle between God and Satan... Even in a church situation the devil tries to show up."

Oh, Cloudwatcher, I share your reaction completely. Adventism really gives Satan a LOT of credit. If you think about it, the great controversy theme is about the interactions between God, Satan, and Jesus--and we enter the picture as the determining "vote".

In Scripture, satan plays absolutely no role whatsoever in the story of our salvation. Humans are responsible for human sin—Satan is not—and God deals with us directly in the Person of Jesus. We come to Jesus, and in Him we are reconciled to God. Period!

The families and students will be grief stricken tonight. What a tragedy.

One day all this pain, sorrow and death will be abolished forever. We must hold onto this hope.

That is the FB profile of the alleged murderer.

I feel bad for the families. I always did think that it was only a matter of time before that happened at a SDA school. The SDA young people have so much pressure put on them to be perfect. There are also many dysfunctional SDA families that put on those Sabbath smiles and look so perfect every Sabbath.

People in cults don't have the Holy Spirit so they can't do ANYTHING ELSE but sin! That's the situation this young man is in. People are desparate for their rebelious sons and daughters to be good, so they send them to what they think is a Christian school. A school by a cult cannot give them any power to be good! That comes from the Holy Spirit. SDAs think that means to have Jesus' power within, or something; rather than a real PERSON dwelling within. I wonder what Adventists think it means when the Bible mentions the supernatural FRUITS of the Spirit, such as joy, peace and goodness! They probably think those are some ghostly, ethereal stuff that they have to take on faith.....

I didn't even know a person COULD actually sense God's Presence when I was a Seventh-day Adventist....

I havent heard if this student is actually a SDA or if he just attended the school. I think SDA schools will accept any student whose parents can afford the tuition."Private" "Christian" schools seem to be the place parents want to send their troubled children when the parents and the public schools cannot or will not handle them. :-(
Sending a child to a private school or "Christian" school is not a cure for a troubled child. There is more to the story than him just "not liking the teacher".

Skeeter, you are right.
As a kid in SDA I noticed there were many troublemaking kids in church school and Pathfinders. The leaders all felt sorry for them, so they let them stay on. It never worked. They were a bad influence on other people and they all never became religious anyway.
